A shelter has this on their web site, for people who call their shelter. Press 1 if you think we are veterinarians and want free medical advice. Press 2 if you know we are a rescue organization but want to save money and have us give you free, untrained medical advice anyway. Press 3...

Dalmation cross or German Short Hair mix
Posted to:
Choosing A Dog
Ok, whatta yah think? The rescue agency where we got her called her a Dalmation cross, but the trainer thinks she's a German Short Hair cross (maybe because she's brown & white). She weighs about 27 lbs and probably has some skinny dog in her as she is very lean and has a similar body shape...

Posted to:
News & Entertainment
My SIL wants to go back up north where we go every year camping. My husband, the kids and I just came back last Sunday. She really wants to go, but does not want to drive alone. I asked my husband if he would mind if I went with my daughter and drove her sister and we stayed for a week. He said if I...

Switching to Raw
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
I've decided to switch to an all-raw diet after this bag of Innova Puppy is gone, which is probably about another month away. I've done a lot of reading online and may end up doing pre-made raw from Healthy Paws rather than preparing it myself at least for a while (I can barely make oatmeal for...

Feeling guilty..
Posted to:

I am feeling guilty right now after reading all of the posts on rescuing shelter dogs. I do not know how many shelters work the way our county's does. Our county's shelter is in the same building as the city's. They each work differently. Our city's shelter you can just adopt the animal...

Bats?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Ok, so how common or uncommon is it to find a dead bat in your driveway? That's not really my question...does there have to be something wrong with it (illness) that it died or could it just die? DH thinks I'm crazy, I put it in a ziploc and stuck it in the freezer in the garage. I'll get...

Oh you guys, even though I was extremely sad yesterday for all the events, I was also happy to see my roamer had stuck around. He must have been full after eating in the morning because he slept all day. Around 2:00 pm. I left to go buy him food and Romeo's too and to go get my sweet terror from...

I have a 4 month old maltipoo puppy who is just adorable. When we got him he was on NutroMax puppy food so we kept him on it. At first he ate it just fine but then seemed disinterested. We moistened it because it was hard for him to chew. We switched to Nutro Ultra Puppy food and that worked for a little...

Calming Signals
Posted to:

I am curious to hear what people think about calming signals - your experiences and observations and if using them has changed or improved your dog and his/her reactivity? I am interested in calming signals but I am unsure about how well it they work. For example, one of Dodger's tricks is to...
