I like Roscoe or Roman (a play on roamer.)  I doubt Romeo will take too well to him, though, considering what he's displaying and you mentioned in the past that Romeo HATES when you show another dog attention/affection.  If he had a safe happy loving home with your vet, that would be terrific.  Otherwise, he does look pretty healthy - not underweight, clear eyes, etc.  He's handsome!

Roam is definitely Shepherd/Sharpei with possibly a little Mastiff mixed in.  He is a handsome gentlemen and probably has been mistreated therefore the hesitation.  Can u tell if he has been neutered? If not, that could explain Romeo's aggression.
He is slowly becoming your dog you know...

You know I think so too.  And no he is not fixed, although I don't really think Romeo's aggression is because of that.  The other dog was not neutered either and he has fine with him, even tender and affectionate, he is just being a butt.  Last night he knew, I was outside with him and when I came back inside he gave me the dirtiest look and would not come near me until I went and changed clothes, washed my hands and everything.  I am going to call my animal communicator and Romeo and I are going to have a chat.  I don't expect him to like him, he does not have to, but I do want him to be civil.

Anyway I am making progress, baby steps though, I don't care anything is good.  Last night, after the ate, he sat there looking at me when all of a sudden he just laid down flat on his side, he seemed at peace and relaxed, I kept talking to him the whole time and little by little I got closer and closer ( I was seating down) until I got close enough that I could scratch his side and stroked him, rubbed his belly.

I am hoping that one day, he trusts me enough to let me put a collar around his neck and get him to the vet to get fixed and checked out and have him brought up to date.  Once that happens, I don't know.  My heart says I would love to have him here with me, but I have to consider Romeo.  If I can find him a home where he will be loved, respected and taken care of, that will make me happy as well.

Tacran--I have been thinking about what you said.  I don't think my motives are that noble.  I am an only child, my husband passed away, don't have any kids and my parents are very sick.  Besides my parents I don't have any more family.  The way I look at it, is if I help any creature, be it the 2 or 4 legged kind maybe one day when I am old and senile someone will help me too.  That is one of my motives, the other is I just love dogs.

ak408201-- I don't know if he ever did, but if  he did they must not have treated him all that well, he is scared of everything and everyone.  I really do not know how he has survived all this time.

Thank you all for your kind words.  I hope and pray "roamer" has a happy ending.

He looks like a "Ronin" to me...a samurai without a master that wanders the countryside until someone hires him for protection or an army operation [:)]

That is so awesome that he actually let you pet him!  Hopefully soon he will be totally comfortable with him.[:)]

Oh my gosh, I don't know why did I not think of it before and I watch so much Japanese Animee.  Thanks, I like Ronin.

Ronin is a very handsome boy!  I hope that it turns out the best way for him.  I have this feeling that he wants to trust & be in a home with someone.  You're giving him a chance.  Kudos for that.

But those are noble motives  -- to act compassionately simply because it feels like the right thing to do, to exhibit kindness without being asked -- not for fame, money, or because you're being forced to do something.  And yes, I believe what we put "out there" comes back to us.  You'll be on the receiving end of such kindness someday, too!

Hurray for such great progress that you were allowed to give him a belly scratch, even for a moment!  I look forward to hearing more reports on this special guy!

Your roamer is a very cool, unique looking dog. Whatever you decide to do with his future, I know you'll do what's best for him. You're a good person and your gentle caring and patience with him is wonderful.

He's just beautiful, Olinda, and I agree with Tracy - it's noble to reach out and comfort and care for this boy in need AND motives are always complex - it doesn't debase the act.
