Should I stay or should I go??

Should I stay or should I go??

My SIL wants to go back up north where we go every year camping. My husband, the kids and I just came back last Sunday. She really wants to go, but does not want to drive alone. I asked my husband if he would mind if I went with my daughter and drove her sister and we stayed for a week. He said if I have enough money I can go. I have the money, but am a little afraid to go. I've never driven that far (5.5 hours) I don't really like to drive. But I know I could do it and I really do want to go. I have never been on vaccation by myself, so it's exciting yet a little scary. And I feel kinda bad that my husband can't go, even though he says he don't care. What would you do? Should I just do it?

Well, a few things to consider...

I don't think the driving 5.5 hours is a big deal.  But, recently you wrote about money troubles.  With gas prices these days, and the cost of a vacation, would it make more sense for you to stay home?  Now, to play devil's advocate, it would be a fun new thing to do... but if you are going to feel bad for leaving hubby the whole time, it will not be so fun.

Consider what is most important... maybe you could go for a weekend instead of a whole week or some other compromise.

The money is not a problem, SIL is going to pay for gas, all I have to pay for is my own food. I would have to go for 5-7 days because that is how long she wants to stay. Thats part of the deal, she pays for gas I stay the week to bring her home.

I don't think I will worry too much about hubby once I am there.[8D] I'll be having too much fun. LOL

I've just never done anything like this before. I can't believe I'm even thinking it over.

I say you should go and have a wonderful time! It will be fun and exciting.

Really a 5.5 hour drive isn't difficult. If you aren't used to driving for longish periods of time make sure you stop and get out to walk around for a few minutes like once each hour. It will refresh your brain from the monotony of the road, give you a chance to stretch your legs, go potty or get something to drink.

If you are worried about leaving him alone, PM me and I will tell you something you can do to him before you go and after you get back that might make your absence more tolerable for him.  [;)]

    LMAO I can just imagine.

Hey, I can give you links, with pictures, right here on the good ol' internet.  You won't even have to imagine.  You will be able to SEE.  Ain't technology wonderful?  [;)]

I say go!  I think it is good for hubby and wife to take short breaks alone every once in a while.  I have driven from GA to MA several times to see my Mom, and really enjoyed the drive.  When I seem to be getting road weary, eating a bag of M&M's one by one does wonders, but you may not need that as you will have company.

Angel, does your SIL have more money than you do?  If so, tell her you will go, but she has to buy your food too.  To me, that would be reasonable, and it would save you a few bucks.

Billy, yes the internet is wonderful, and what a deal. It's basically free.[;)]

I'm going. Yes my sister does have more money. And since my MIL is already up there I know she'll feed me.[:)]

I say go too, and have a great time.  *Girl's Week Out" sounds like a lot of fun. ALL DHs need to spend a week or so with out us every now and then - and learn to figure out fun things like how to work the coffee pot and the washing machine and how to replace a roll of toilet paper.[:D]

go for it!  i love going without the husband...and do so very often.  i camp with the horses and he likes to fish.  so i head off to the trails and he finds a lake.  last year a friend of mine flew up from ks and we loaded up the horses and my daughter and spent a week out in the black hills sight seeing and riding.  it was a great time!!!

Well, try not to make a pig of yourself this time, okay?  I have it on good authority that your eating habits are an embarrassment to the whole family.  [:)]
