There are several products to keep flies away that are made for livestock and can be used on dogs.

We use a produce called Bronco on our dogs and lawn.  Bronco can be used on horses and dogs but can#%92t be used on CATS.  It comes in a larger quantity for the yard and play area for the animals. It cost around $3.00 for a small spray bottle at tractor supply store. It really works.

Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around the areas the flies are congregating and breeding. We used to feed diatomaceous earth to our cows because it went right through them, and when the flies ate the cow poop, it killed them.

It is not poison. It's made of the skeletons of diatoms, tiny tiny sea animals that are part of plankton and whose skeletons are mainly silica, I believe.

I used to sprinkle it in and around the outhouse and much reduced the fly population. Now I don't have an outhouse, but that's just an example.

If you look up "fly predators" on the net you might possibly be interested. They have an "eew" factor but a couple Beaglers have taken to using them and they rave about how well they work, they are small harmless wasps that absolutely decimate flies, horse people and cattle people use them. NO pesticides at all or stinky stuff to apply.

In the meantime I use an equine product recommended to me by an Akita person called "Asorbine Ultra-Shield' and it works great. I get mine in a trigger spray from [linkhttp://www.upco.com[/link]>http://www.upco.com]http://www.upco.com[/link]
