Bats?

    Bats?

Ok, so how common or uncommon is it to find a dead bat in your driveway?  That's not really my question...does there have to be something wrong with it (illness) that it died or could it just die?  DH thinks I'm crazy, I put it in a ziploc and stuck it in the freezer in the garage.  I'll get a picture of it tonight.  I'm just so freaked out....why would a bat die in my driveway???  It's not like it could have flown into the window of one of our cars and died like birds do when they fly into my mom's picture window right?!?!  They're equipped to zip around in the dark for pete's sake!

I walked out to my car this morning and thought it was a leaf or a piece of garbage that blew in and low and behold, its a bat!!!  I want to know why these things keep happening to me!!!  Fortunately though, it was in the driveway and nowhere that Cooper would have found it!  First the crow that Cooper tackled, then the Chipmunk that he caught, and now a dead bat.  Enough already!

I'm just not sure what exactly I should do next and I wondered if anyone has any advice.

I'm not so sure on who you would call to check it out. But if you live in a place where bats are very common, I would not think it so strange. My mother has alot at her house and she found one once. They do have to die sometime and somewhere.

I watch them zip around above the yard every night so I guess it shouldn't seem so weird to me.  You're right, they do have to die somewhere at some time.

I had a bird drop dead mid flight and flop onto the hood of my car. [:-] I imagine a dead bat in your driveway isn't something to be alarmed about. It has to die somewhere, sometime. If you are worried you can call your local Fish and Game office and see what they have to say.

Don't worry about it--all things die at one time or another. Jus ttoss it in the trash or bury it (where the dogs can't get it!) and let it go at that.
