Oh my....after all of these years of Eagle Pack....I think I am going to change Gibbys dog food. He just isn't gaining the weight I think he should...and has had problems with his touch tummy ( even though he's been really good lately ) but I'm thinking maybe it time. He is 17 months old...

sores around groin area
I have a 5 year old male cocker spaniel. He is on prescription dog food which has helped. For the past year or so, he has developed "sores" around his penis area. They are little red bumps. I put Panolog Cream on them and sometimes he takes an oral antibiotic for 14 days. The "sores"...

Seeking help for a story on anal area problems
I'm a journalist who writes regularly about medical issues for Your Dog , the newsletter for Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. For all of my stories, I not only interview medical experts but also look for owners of dogs that have the conditions and have gone for treatment...

Now, how do I explain
Well, thanks to you guys I don't think Willow still needs a dental. I mean, she might still benefit for it as far as for under the gumline. She still has some redness. But, the tartar is almost completely gone after only 4 or 5 bones. Now I feel like an idiot for not doing this all along. But, I...

Really embarrassing question (if a dog eats something latex...)
Going to make this is vague as possible... if a dog might have eaten a condom, how worried should the owner be? when can it be expected to pass if the dog did infact ingest it or does the dog need to see a vet ASAP? Thanks guys.

antibiotic question
Hi, This post is related to my "sores around groin area" post. So Jake's sores looked a little more red today after getting groomed, so I called the vet again and asked for an oral antibiotic. She gave me Cefpodoxime (Simplicef) 100 mg x 14 days. So I gave him one tonight. A little while...

Groomers, where do you get shears?
I bought a great pet scissors, a Fromm 11 B groomer, 26 years ago, in St. Paul, Minnesota, for my then cairn. It has been great until the last couple of years with my now cairn. Where can I find a comprable shear? I bought scissors at Sally Beauty Supply, but it does not work that well. I just need a...

Dry skin on puppy.
Hey guys! So I've noticed Simba has some dry skin. I gave him a bath today after getting oatmeal shampoo(hartz brand), but I was curious if there's something else I should try. Or is what I'm using okay?

My JRT was "studying" a scorpion.
Today I saw my 6 months old JRT, Luna, curiously studying something on the floor. At first I thought she found a bug, but not a second later I noticed how cautious she was. It was a scorpion. I killed it and checked if Luna was ok. She was. I guess being stung by a scorpion must be death for a dog...

Hip Dysplasia and your Dog
Hi Folks I was wondering if anyone has had experience dealing with hip dysplasia? I noticed a slight limp last year with Maggie. It was so slight, it took a while to try and watch her at just the right moment to be certain of what I thought I saw. The vet did a physical exam, no swelling...stretched...

IMHA Side effects of treatment drugs
Hi to all and thanks for responses to my earlier posts. "Killer" has now survived IMHA and diabetes for 3 months. She was originally placed on 25 mg of prednisone every 12 hours and later began a regimen of azathioprine. Because of the prednisone, she also takes 26 units of insulin every 12...

OMG - Jamison . . . . . Deb W.
So I get home from my Xmas party yesterday and walk into a house covered in vomit. I let Jamison out in the back yard and start to clean up - he eats grass for about a half hour then comes in and drinks an entire bowl of water. 10 minutes later, he scratches at the door to go back out where he repeated...

Does anyone know when female dogs have their first season?
Gemma is a miniature Jack Russell Terrier and nearly 8 months old. No sign of coming into season yet. When should I expect this?

Need Help for Floyd
The back history is that Floyd had three mast cell tumors in 2005. Two at once in the groin area and then another 12 days later in the shoulder. . I put him on prednisone for four months when he got the third. Since then I've learned a lot about diet. He was never, since adoption, been on a bad diet...

Dog food help
Our dog was a very picky eater. She would also get upset stomachs a lot. We tried all kinds of foods including all the organic brands, most expensive, and ones with and without grains or other ingredients. All were dry foods. We finally gave up and now we make her food from scratch ourselves...

Honey is Doing Great
Honey, my golden retriever mix, who just turned 8 , had a mat celltumor removed from her rear leg in the late spring. I admit Iam paranoid, as is hubby, and we go over with fine toothcomb. We have found 3tiny lumps (my vet said he doesn't see how we ever felt them), and they have all turned out to...

Wanting to try a Dremel
Hey guys! So I want to start getting my dog used to having his nails clipped and what not, I'm already working on just messing with his paws. However, I've never had much luck with cutting a dog's nails. I know it sounds silly but I always freak out that I'm gonna cut the quick. Would...
