Which of these three

Hi Dyan, just wanted to mention that those food rolls contain lots of organ meat.  And, some dogs, like mine, end up with diarrhea if they eat too much organ meat at once. Willow loves those rolls. But, she ends up a mess.

So, just thought I'd mention it since Gibby has a sensitive system too.

Thats tood to know, thanks Lori!

I did purchase the California Natural...haven't started him on it yet... I want to work it out so that I can very slowly move him over from EP since this food is entirely different than what he is used to. He has been doing very well latey ( go figure now that I am changing his food ) and I don't want to disrupt anything.   He threw up only once since I was on vacation in November, and I was a little concerned because it was food from breakfast and it should  have been digested a little more than it was.....but didn't have any problems the rest of the day or after that.

He still has about 2 weeks worth of EP so...in a day or so I will start replacing a little of the kibble with the CN.

Well...today I will start adding C.N. to Gibbys food.  I didn't this morning because I didn't realize how much EP he had left.

One thing I like though...is the kibble is larger.  I am HOPING that will mean he will chew it instead of wolfing it down. That is one thing that I didn't like about E.P because when Gibby was smaller,,,he chewed. When he became bigger,,,he wolfed...Sad

However,,,,,  got a feeling he will wolf this down too.

If wolfing his food is a problem (and it can be for a dog with a touchy stomach) is scattering his food on the floor a possibility? I'm not sure how much of the food you need to use, but we have a buster cube we can put her food in (we feed a cup per meal and it holds the full cup nicely). She has to roll it around to get the kibble and it comes out slowly. She LOVES it, since it's interactive.

LOL, us either Sharon!!  Heck, the vet doesn't even bat any eye now.  I've got the meds on hand.  And, only need to go in if it doesn't resolve in 24-48 hours.  Or, she seems sicker or like it's something out of the norm.  I don't know whether to feel flattered the vet trusts me to make these decisions or pathetic!!

LOL glad to hear I'm not alone. People look at me funny when I calmly relate that Ari was erm explosive and I didn't take her right away to the vet. Used to, but unless something is really off (and the SO and I would know instantly) we know what to do. Sad to say, but I went to the vets once to pick up this really nice leash and collar set I had my eye on. I went alone and as SOON as they saw me they asked "OMG is Ari ok, what's going on?" Yep, that's how often we were in their for some stomach upset or another.  The vet has confidence in us as well. I just wish they had more ANSWERS for us. They're great, but I'm about ready to check out for holistic vets to supplement her traditional vet care. I'd like to do more preventative work than reactive measures when her tummy is in an uproar.

Back ON topic Wink, I hope you find something that works for Gibby. I swear by California Natural, but all dogs are different. I know our trainer likes it and its what he feeds the dogs that are staying in his kennel, b/c it's really a simple/gentle formula. He's the one who steered us to is. It's also really reasonably priced which is just a bonus for us.

Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll,,,,,, it could have been better.  DH was supposed to replace just 1/4 c of EP with  the CN for supper.   He replaced 1/2 c  and I bet it was more than that besides.  Gibby might have wolfed it..probably did because he walked away from his dish-came close to the kitchen and barfed on my white carpet.   The whole thing....and cleaned it up himself.....if you know what I mean.    He was fine after that.

He does eat fast...he doesn't chew his food much at all. Mabye when he gets towards the end.   I dont' think that Bubby ever did either...Ollie used to chew his.   The problem with scattering food on the floor is only one...that is I feed him from a raised dish....and I feel thats important.

I don't think the new CN had anything to do with him throwing up......just figure he ate to fast.  Maybe he ate even faster because he liked it so much  Wink
