Apartment dogs - tips, please! (Cita)
Posted to: News & Entertainment
So, Rascal and I are trying to decide whether or not we should move to an apartment. (We've decided that BF can come too ) It's a super nice apartment, allows pets, 3 elevators, etc... *but* it *is* on the 23rd floor. I'm a little bit anxious about how the pottying routine is going to work...

Nipping other dogs at park while playing
Posted to: Training & Behavior
Our approximately 7 month old female German Shepherd mix loves to run/chase other dogs at the leash free park. Quite often, 5 or 6 dogs will chase one dog in particular, before changing up and going after another in the running group. Our girl will sometimes be chased, but most often is the chaser. It...

Anybody who watches Jeopardy! knows how after the first commercial break Alex Trebek chats for a few moments with each contestant on air. Last night when he got to the current champion, he read off his little card that she loves cats. She said she did, had one of her own, and that she volunteers on the...

Some new friends (jewlieee)
Posted to: News & Entertainment
I posted recently about a lady I met at the vet that had to put her dog down. I got her in touch with my breeder and she ended up adopting a 2 yr old aussie and an aussie pup. We've been walking our dogs together a couple days per week since then and today I took some pics. They are like watching...

Do you train with a clicker, or are you a clicker trainer?
Posted to: Training & Behavior
Yes, there is a difference! Just because you use a clicker to help your dog learn certain behaviors does not mean that you are a clicker trainer. Clicker training is not about the device, which is just a marker, it's also about a philosophy, and the science behind that philosophy.. I think this article...

Why are beagles so stubborn?? Share your beagle stories!
Posted to: Training & Behavior
I have a beagle and he is a very sweet dog, but sooooo stubborn! He does exactly what he wants to do. When you call him, he just turns his head the other way and totally ignores you. Except....when you have food! My beagle loves to eat and comes directly when you have something edible in your hand. Also...

Beagle rescues?
Posted to: Rescue & Help
Other than the national breed club, or B.O.N.E.S., does anyone know of any other Beagle rescue groups, or groups that specialize in senior dogs, that might help an older Beagle whose elderly owner is seriously ill and may need to re-home the dog quickly? The family has already said they don't want...
