PM from 4IC

    PM from 4IC

Did someone delete one of her posts from the "smile rwbeagles" thread?  She PM'd me saying no one had written to her.

    • Gold Top Dog

Yep, I did.  If she didn't get a notification, it's because the system didn't send one.

    • Gold Top Dog

We still need to personally PM if we delete someone's post.  Not everyone is signed up to get emails and we can't rely on them having done so - nor can we insist on it.

    • Gold Top Dog

OK, will do from now on.  I didn't realize that the system didn't hit everyone.

I don't send PM's out either Glenda. I don't delete posts unless they are spam, member request, or being removed after warnings in thread have been given. I don't see why if in thread "off topic posts, baiting posts will be removed" types of warnings have been issued...?

    • Gold Top Dog

Certain members are particularly apt to pull the "I saw the warnings in the thread, but I thought MY post was fine" card.  And some of them are likely to address the matter publicly rather than PM'ing one of us.  Sending a message when deleting prevents "hey, where'd my post go?" messages either publicly or privately from those who think the rules, or in-thread warnings, don't apply to them.

We can change that, if you like, and put it somewhere that if a thread has had a general warning issued in it, members won't be individually notified by us when a post is removed unless it is to receive a warning and that if they want to know every time a post of theirs is deleted, they should turn their email acceptance to "on".  I can easily write that in to the guideline regarding post edits.

I vote against that, Kate, I think the more rules and changes there are the harder they are going to buck. so, as much as it sucks, i think we should send a PM. (even i am wondering why i'm up at 330... and pissed about it, logan got into the cat food, diarrhea city. dumb dog. dumb cat. i want to sleep! sorry for typos, on my PDA.)

I guess we all just need to be on the same page.  I have NOT been sending PM's because the system told me it was doing it.  I had no idea, until yesterday, when Gina and I played with it, that notification was not automatically being sent.  So, it looks like Kate has been the only one doing it.

I can go either way.  It only takes a minute or two to send a pm, but we do need to be consistent.

I will send a PM even tho I personally think it's going to result in endless arguing esp from certain people.

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah..those people would find a way to argue anyway though.  If the email back, ignore it or refer it to me.

    • Gold Top Dog

OK, so we are to PM?  And does that apply to the spammers as well?  Folks like thepamperedpup who do the driveby posts in several topics and then vanish for several days and come back to do it again?  Or the weekend warriors who pop up and flood the forum with spam?  Honestly, I've found emailing those folks to be totally useless.  I've NEVER gotten a reply and they just keep doing their thing.  I'm not arguing, just asking if you want us to pm the toads as well??

    • Gold Top Dog

Email the spammers the first time..if they repeat, send them to me, so you guys aren't repeatedly PMing the same people for spam.
