Itching in the morning
Posted to: Health & Grooming
Maze has developed this weird habit.. She scratches almost continually in the morning before her first walk of the day. It's been going for a while now. It started when we were working out her allergies and I had her on Benedryl. But that's all cleared up and I don't give it to her anymore...

Oravet gel
Posted to: Health & Grooming
Twister had his teeth cleaned two weeks ago while he was in for a broken tooth extraction. They gave me a pack of Oravet gel. I'm supposed to start using it on his teeth tomorrow. It appears to be basically wax and the purpose is to prevent/delay tartar build up. I am not too keen on this since his...

anyone have earth shoes?
Posted to: News & Entertainment
I need some new shoes! I love my dansko clogs, but it's time for some new ones. I am on my feet for 12 hours, so need something very comfortable. A resident told me that her earth shoes were way more comfortable that her danskos, and the ones i like are actually cheaper than danskos. They have that...

Lump still at Rabies injection site after 2 years
Posted to: Health & Grooming
There was no problem with the 1 year Rabies vaccine when he was a puppy. When he got the three year Forte-Dodge vaccine there was an immediate lump at the site. I had the vet check it, and he was not worried. A year later, I had the vet take a look, and he did not seem concerned. I have asked a couple...

When To Say It's Probably Not Ringworm
Posted to: Health & Grooming
I have a hunch that my 2-year old vizsla has a mild food allergy that's masquerading as ringworm, and I am wondering if anyone's faced something similar. Here's the background: 1. This dog has had major problems with his ears practically his whole short life, and 95% of the Ear Horror has...

Amyltriptyline (sp)
Posted to: Health & Grooming
Abbie has been on Amyltriptyline (Elavil) for anxiety for a couple of months now. 10mg every other day faithfully. She has done well on it. I haven't called the vet yet and thought I would ask here first. Should her dosage be upped to every day now? I know in humans they typically start at a lower...

Curse you, workplace

The clinic I work at has a massive ringworm issue that we've been battling for months. It started with taking in known ringworm kittens from a family who traps and spay/neuters feral cats. Every kitten we take in from them has ringworm...they must live in a huge spore bubble or somesuch. Then someone...

I have a 2 1/2 year old Border Collie bitch. She is checked and healthy and I took her to stud 5 weeks ago. Since then we have had an extremely affectionate little doggy (even more than usual). She has been asking for breakfast (something she stopped having at 5 months old). Her nipples have pinked up...
