Dog not eating.
My great dane Athena isn't as active as normal and will not eat. She does drink so but not a lot. Maybe i'm just freaking out because its the only meal she hasn't eaten so far. She was outside eating some grass so doesn't that mean her stomach is upset? I did notice in the corner of her...

Revolution and red droopy ear?
My dog has been on Sentinel for 3 years. We just switched to a new vet (we've moved a lot) and new vet didn't sell sentinel, didn't like sentinel, and recommended revolution. My husband was frustrated, but I liked the fact that it worked on ticks, which are bad here, so we bought 3 months...

Really dry nose... sick?
My boxer's nose is really dry, so dry that the top looks cracked, but not bleeding. I moved to a new apartment about a month ago and her skin has been really dry since then. Does anyone know what it means when your dogs nose is really dry? I thought it was supposed to be wet all the time. Any...

Please help. Older dog with high calcium
My beloved dog who is 14 has had excessive thirst and hunger lately. He was found to have high calcium levels. The vet said it may possibly be due to a parathyroid tumor or lymphoma. He is an active and happy guy. Anyone have experience with this? If it is a benign parathyroid tumor, would it be worth...

Clean Ears
How clean do their ears need to be? I wipe our Wes's ears with a damp paper towel/ear wipe from the pet store, but I can't seem to get rid of all the gunk... It is not that there is so much, rather that there is just a little, and it is all in the very small crevices that I can't quite totally...

Restoring your dogs coat
We finally did it... we found Zuni Bear and our family (now two kids and two dogs) a companion. Boo Bear is a two year old male GSP/Lab mix who has an incredible disposition. We picked Boo up from a rescue and will be bringing him home in two weeks when we return from vacation. Boo was given up by his...

Which color?
I'm going to dye Emma. I'm not exactly sure of the logistics of it, yet, but she'll be one color, to her mask. Her head and face will be natural. I'm thinking something in a crayola shade, LOL. I'll use Manic Panic, or cake dye to color her, and wear gloves. It should be fun, to look...

Heartworm infected dog - Just found out today :(
Greetings, all. I'm new to this forum and found it by googling for imiticide. We adopted a rescue dog here in Michigan, who was from Louisiana. We got him in September of last year and they estimated that he was about 8 months old. (He's grown a lot in size, so we're pretty sure he was...

A Question for the Professionals--grooming schools
My dream has always been to own a kennel, to show and breed Saint Bernards. To do that, though, I need financing. Right now we're in a small apartment, and looking into getting a house in about a year. After that come the dogs. I am a stay at home mom and was looking into getting schooling for...

Seasonal flank alopecia
So I've been looking into Maya's hair loss. It sounds a LOT like seasonal flank alopecia, which is common in boxers. Does anyone have any experience with that? I read that there aren't really any treatments except for more sunlight. Maybe melatonin?

Anyone have info on Lymphangiectasia?
Our friends have a 3-year old Basset Hound who's struggled with what they thought was Irritable Bowel Syndrome for most of her life. Lots of bouts of diarrhea, minimal improvements despite all kinds of vet treatments, diet changes, etc. About a month ago, they took her to a specialist who did more...

injured pad
I haven't been to idog in a really long time, but I thought I'd ask for some advice...We took topa on a mountain bike ride on saturday...probably not the best idea for a 6 year old dog, but he looked really sad as we were leaving in the truck... anyway, after about 8 miles, his front pad split...

Hair thinning
So lately I've been noticing that my dog has some very thin areas of hair on her sides. I can see her dark skin through it very easily. She's a boxer so she has no undercoat. The skin looks healthy, she doesn't lick or scratch it. At first I thought she was just doing her spring shedding...

Flea control for lawn.
I was wondering if anyone has put anything on their yard to help kill the fleas. My vet recommended Over n' Out and Seven 5% dust. We tried Over n' Out but still have the problem. The dogs do have frontline on but with all the stray cats the yard was full of fleas when we moved in. And other...

Same time last year
Sioux had a clear discharge from one nostril last year - went to the vet who didn't really find anything wrong but a "mild irritation". The other day, I look at her little liver colored nose, and there's a crusty patch on it and the nostril looks a little irritated. So, I called the...
