DOes you dog wake you up in the morning to go out?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I take Odie out around 11pm before I go to bed. Then I'm up at 7am for work every morning, so I let him out then. On the weekends, I also try to wake up about that time to take him out, but then it's back to bed for both of us! Odie is the king of grouches if you wake him up early. He'll...

No pile of leaves is safe. (pic heavy)
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
The neighbor a couple of doors over has a huge oak tree that sheds into everyones yard. Kord finds the idea of a leaf pile offensive and has decided that they must be dispersed, never mind that mom spent time getting them into a nice neat pile. He also has issues with the rake and barks at it. I cannot...

Dry Food.
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
After reading some of the post on here awhile before, I was going to switch my dogs gradually and put them on Nutro Natural Choice because I've realized the food they are eating has by-products in it and it isn't healthy. I recieved in the mail today though, a sample 12 oz sample of Purina Pro...

Looking for the best breed for our needs
Posted to:
Choosing A Dog
Currently we have 2 cats and a Bichon (male, just over one year old). We've narrowed down what seem like the best breeds for us to just a few: Keeshond Finnish Spitz Norwegian Buhund (we've read they may not be good with cats so this one may not be an option) Obviously breeds known...

Healthypets.com?

Has anyone ever used this site? They have great prices on the Rep-Cal and Herptivite that I use for my sugar gliders and the CET chews. I can get both supplements for about the price I pay for one alone other places and the chews are half the price as they are locally.

6 minute seizure!
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
My girl, Flea - is a 4 year old chihuahua and has seizures. When they started last winter - there was a 7 month delay between the first and second. Then, they were pretty sporadic. As time went on, they got more frequent (1-2 a month, or not at all). Then, in October, she had 3 of them - between...

Luxating Patella: knee brace..Help pls
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
I have a friend whose dog has a luxating patella and a condition which makes it dangerous for him to undergo anesthesia (liver damage from valley fever) thus surgery is not a safe option. She is trying to find an alternative to treating her pup to keep him relatively painfree. Several months ago I thought...

Do you let your dog(s) on your bed?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
My mom told me not to allow Jazz on my bed because it will make her think that she is the leader or the dominant one. What do you think about this? Is she right? Is allowing her on my bed not a very good thing to do? I'm just curious. Let me know all of your opinions on this. Thanks! ...

Deramaxx expiration?

My poor old buddy (17 year old doberman) is suffering from severe arthritis that has not responded very well to glucosamine/chondroiting/msm, fish oil, and some of the suggestions here (but appreciated nevertheless!). In any event, after a run in with lyme disease in September 2005, my dog was prescribed...

Why did I go to the pound?
Posted to:

I was driving by the city pound and thought to myself I have some extra time, I should stop and see what#%92s there. I go in and there is a room with six rows of kennels most all filled with dogs, most even had two to three dogs in each kennel. I walk around and felt so sorry for all of them that...

Bad mom!

Yes, I am. I feel awful and vain and just plain rotten. After several conversations with my vet over the past month, we decided that we needed to tape up Kord's right ear. Not sure how the little stinker did it, banged it on his crate? bumped into something I didn't notice? Anyway, his ears were...
