Yes, I am. I feel awful and vain and just plain rotten. After several conversations with my vet over the past month, we decided that we needed to tape up Kord's right ear. Not sure how the little stinker did it, banged it on his crate? bumped into something I didn't notice? Anyway, his ears were both up at 13 and 14 weeks, after that his right ear, which is tattooed was slow to come up, then it was up and then it went down, flat down across his head. Now I have had GSD's all my life and I have never had to tape any of my dogs ears. The vet I go to is very familiar with the breed since he himself has one, and he was the vet that helped us send Babe on her way. I have no experience taping or wrapping so they are going to do it for me.
Somehow or another he got a crease in his right ear, it does not show any damage and looks perfectly healthy, it is just having a hard getting past that crease and thus he is being very very lazy about using his ears as radar to strengthen it, he will actually swivel his head before moving his ear if he can get away with it. I became very concerned when I actually looked at a photo of him running, you can see his left ear going behind him, but his right ear stayed forward and over his head. So, for the next 7 days they stay wrapped if I can keep them dry and clean. He goes in next Monday to have it removed and to see how it is doing, the vet will not tape more then twice in a 30 day period so I have a couple of months to see if this will work. If not, then I can say we tried and he will have a lazy ear.
