My poor old buddy (17 year old doberman) is suffering from severe arthritis that has not responded very well to glucosamine/chondroiting/msm, fish oil, and some of the suggestions here (but appreciated nevertheless!).
In any event, after a run in with lyme disease in September 2005, my dog was prescribed deramaxx. We only used about half of the bottle, and I still have three or four pills left. It has been recommended that I try this drug, but the expiration date on the bottle says 2/9/2006.
They are a little over a year old, and I was surprised that the expiration date was only 5 months after they were purchased. Does anyone think it would be okay to try one of these pills to see how he responds? Or should I just get a whole prescription and then see?
Also, I realize deramaxx is a sulfa drug and Jack is a doberman. Should I use rimadyl instead?
Thanks!
Chris
