Would you go to an ice skating rink in the summer if it was local?

I guess so...our mall has one year around....people use it plenty.

Hmmm.  Since I've never been on ice skates, and at this stage of my life it's highly unlikely, [:D] I guess my answer would be NO.

    Yes... and I have.... indoor.

For info, you could check out U. of Delaware has an indoor rink I believe.  There are also some ice skating rinks around here if you want phone numbers.

Ugh, my mom drives a school bus for the county, and one spring break she drove the kids who go to the county day-camp to the ice skating rink. Her bosses told her she could take her kids, so she drags us along. Lo and behold, the first kid to come off the ice crying and bleeding is my brother. He had to take him to the ER to get stitches, and someone else had to come drive her bus back.

To sum it all up, I have never ice skated again. Summer or winter.

Yes.  We have local indoor rink and I have been to it a few times, including in the summer.  I love ice skating!

I went often in junior high and high school, but our local rink closed a few years ago.

Where I live there is only indoor ice rinks open year round. It's nice to go there during the 100+ summer heat. I've gone a few times different times of the year and I think it's fun.

Thanks!  I think I may speak to a bank and try to open one.  There are none around here.  I was talking with a friend and he seemed to think it would be a seasonal thing.  But I thought it would be a cool thing to do while it was so hot outside in summer and a great winter thing as well.  It would definitly be indoor and year round.  I think all kinds of people from all over would come to it since it would be pretty much the only one in the state.  Or at least within hours and hours.  I have a lot of research to do on it, but Im really hoping to do it in the future.  [:)]

[sm=rofl.gif][sm=rofl.gif][sm=rofl.gif] You've obviously never seen me on skates!

Don't get me wrong though, the idea is a great one, and I'd use it if I didn't think I'd end up in the hospital.....

Yes, I would and do.  I'm not great on ice skates, but the temperature contrast is awesome on a humind 95 degree day.  Ours is busy during the summer.  They have private bookings, ice skating lessons, and more.

I would not. On the other hand though, my 2 sons say it would be great.

Xebby, have you been to the one up on Tramway in ABQ? It's really quite nice. [:D]

Yes, in New Mexico there are ONLY indoor rinks!

I used to ice skate a little when I was a kidlet in Michigan. I can still skate backwards, but my ankles are not what they used to be!

Of course there are plenty of outdoor rinks up here. And a big indoor one that is so heavily booked that the junior skaters have to get up at 4am for practice! Ice skating is big in Fairbanks. It's so much fun to go see the show with the youngsters at the end of the year. Some of my music students skate. [:D]

The indoor rink is the one used all summer, too. Too hot during the summer, gets up to 100° sometimes!

Another thing to look at doing there is running ice hockey leagues... that would be popular.  You could have lessons for little kids on how to play too.

It would be a nice thing for travelors to do on a rainy day too.
