Why do some dogs have fur the reaches the floor

Why do some dogs have fur the reaches the floor, what purpose does it serve? usally things have a reason, like hounds have long ears cause they stir up stuff on the ground so they can smell it better For example look how long this dogs fur is http://www.duiops.net/seresvivos/galeria/perros/Cats...

Willow has been on medication since Thursday. What happened was Thursday and Friday I gave it to her right before I left for work. So, feeling sorry for her, after she took it I went down the hall to the living room with her and got her all set up on the couch. So, yesterday, I'm home all day...

This bill would make spaying/neutering mandatory for cats and dogs in California by 6 months of age. There are a bunch of exemptions: show dogs, athletes, therapy dogs, etc. It was pulled out last session, but it's just been re-introduced. Okay, I went to Costco yesterday to get my lab a 42-inch round Kirkland Signature Dog Bed. By the way, the price I paid was $17.99 (with tax, under $20). I love it especially the cedar chip smell of the bed and the print goes well in our family room. My lab loves it because he finally get a bigger bed...

My friend's White Bull Terrier is going again this year. He was invited this year rather than vying for the lottery spots like they did last year. So his owners are especially excited. His main competition will likely be BOV, but we can hope for a better showing than last year - Bugsy was just too...

well.... as mentioned in another post... I have a new foster (again.....) she's a little beagle-type pup. A complete nut, as I refer to her as. She's hysterically funny, spunky, vocal, smart, and affectionate. She's about 6 weeks old now, 5 lbs. Not the greatest pictures, she never stops...
