"Ah-rooo!" his howls echoed all over the arena. It didn't take much to get Uno going, either. A click of a spectator's pen, a wave of the judge's hand, any effort by Wilkerson to hush him. "Ah-rooo!" That's a beagle for you! LOVE those hounds! When is the last time a hound won Westminster? It's been a while, hasn't it? • lcbryson Posted : 2/13/2008 12:21:18 AM I do fear what all the hype, publicity, and the win are going to do to the rescue numbers in our breed, that is already popular and overrun in the shelters. Nor Cal Beagle Rescue places an average of 250 per year, which does not include the ones that we couldn't save from shelters or had to be euthanized for health reasons. All the media attention that this dog has/will receive will encourage people, who dont necessarily understand or are equipt to own the breed, to go out and buy one.
