Bump on Kya's face
While I was out on Monday, my grandfather watched Kya at his house. When I came to get her, she had a small marble sized lump on her face. Right under her eye and at the back of her muzzle. He hadn't noticed anything traumatic or a bee sting. It has no heat to it. She's not sensitive with...

Index for the AIHA or IMHA thread
WELCOME to the INDEX for the AIHA or IMHA thread. Because this thread has been around so long, but it also tends to be something people "search" for, we're endeavoring to help make it more useful with an index. In order for me to be able to "edit" this index and add to it as the...

Diagnosis is...
High Grade Lymphoblastic Lymphoma!!! Yeah...once again I'm devastated! What makes this worse is the fact that the doctor said this was pointless to treat with Chemo. We argued some...I said it was Stage 3 substage A and she tried to tell me it was late Stage4 to 5. Oh...and this is without doing...

Honey's Lump
A few months ago we found a small pea size lump on Honey's tummy and took her to the vet---she had had a MC tumor removed from her a leg a little over a year ago, and we had lost our other golden retriever girl, KayCee to cancer 2 years agto. So lumps "panic" me. At the time Rickey said...

Shih Tzu throwing up a lot
We took our 4 yr old shih tzu to the vet yesterday as he had been throwing up a lot the day before. He started throwing up blood the next morning and we decided to take him to the vet right away (we had an appt. already for our new puppy to get her boosters). They said he had a problem with his GI tract...

Oh Goose
Today was Goose's recheck for her UTI. Her peeing frequency is still frequent, but less excessive than before, so I assumed the issue was resolved or mostly so. Nope, still lots of white blood cells and now a tiny bit of blood as well as some crystals. Good times. So, urine sample off to the lab...

FURminator
Just wanted to write up a quicky review on the FURminator. We LOVE this tool here and I highly recommend it for anyone with a Lab. It gets out the dead, grey undercoat- and you wouldn't believe how much comes out! He enjoys getting a brush with the FURminator, too. 5/5 stars from us!

E-coli in Urine
My female Cavalier got a report from the lab saying she has E-coli in her urine and is on a different antibiotic than the one originally given her for her UTI. The vet said it is a hazard of being a female. Does anyone else have an opinion as to the cause? I'm afraid it is from drinking water out...

Cranberry tablets for urinary problems
Somewhere I saw that giving a dog cranberry tablets will help a mild urinary tract problem. My dog is a 22 pound King Charles Cavalier. Does anyone know what dosage will help her? She is not sick, but she is trying to pee many more times than normal. My vet is on vacation.

Toxic Foods You Should Never Give Your Dog
Why you can't let your dog eat chocolate, macadamia nuts and other ordinary foods. Is chocolate bad for dogs? Absolutely! Many people think this is a myth or an "old wives tale". Still others have never heard that chocolate can be harmful to your dog. Chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine...

Broken toe + splint on basenji/JRT - advice?
Our 15-month basenji/JRT broke his toe and the vet put on a splint (bandages to be replaced every week for four weeks). He sounds like a little trotting horse when he's moving around. He's still jumping on the bed, running after squirrels, and standing up on his back legs for treats (broken toe...

Worried about Nikon *video added*
I've been concerned for Nikon for a while now. I'm planning to get hip and elbow x-rays just waiting a few more weeks so if they are clean, I will submit them to OFA or Germany (a-stamps). Basically he seems to limp when he walks, or not even so much a limp but his stride does not seem right...

Nocturia
Hello all.... I am so sad today to write and says that my baby girl -she has night time incontinence. It makes me so sad. No offense to small dog owners but I think there is something inherently unfair that big dogs grow older so much faster! (Seriously - no offense) I was not prepared for my 5.5...

Misha's Weight Loss
I posted pictures in April/May saying that Misha weighed 75 lbs and had lost 10 lbs in the past year. I wasn't too concerned about it because I knew that he had been a lot more active in the past year than he'd ever been before, so I chalked it up to him running and playing all the time. Then...

questions about bloat and bloat prevention
Bugsy has many attributes that make him more susceptible to bloat than many dogs. Fortunately we have not had an issue and we hope to never have it but I do think about prevention from time to time. There has been lots of research saying yea or nay to raised feeders. He has had a raised feeder since...

Neuter of an fully grown male - post op care?
Red - the dog I found a while back - is going to be neutered on Saturday - he's a big boy both down there and in total size. The foster mom is completely clueless and would benefit from any advice or what to expect info you have. She asked about his ability to do stairs, walking him and will there...

Tree Sap!
Hi there, How's the easiest way to get pine tree sap out of my mini schnauzer's fur? I gave him a bath and it didn't budge. Also, how can I get his hair as soft as possible? I don't care about showing him, I just want a longish, soft-as-possible coat. Thanks!

My dog is suddenly very flatulent
Hi there I have a ten year old labrador cross who has become quite flatulent in the past month. At that time she was put on Baytril and prednisone for a pseudomonas infection in her ears. She has been successfully treated for that. She stopped the Baytril a week ago and the prednisone four days ago...

Dislocated hip
Hi everyone I haven't been here in ages but now I have a question again. My australian shepard was hit by a car yesterday and has a dislocated hip. He was hospitalized last night and joint put back in place. He won't leave the splint in place and as I was taking him out of the vets office this...

Is this a girl puppy thing
or something that needs meds? I've only had boy puppies, so I am not versed on such things. The first week, Goose was doing great on housetraining. Although she obviously does not have full bladder control and will not for some time, we didn't have any problems getting her out on time...
