Metacam side effects
Wow. It's been a while since I've posted here! My desperation has brought me back, and I'm hoping to stick around this time :) My problem lies with my male Chesapeake Bay retriever, Indy. Late last spring he tore his CCL, and in June had a TTA surgery to repair the knee. In addition to...

Swelled paw (Tessy)
I mentioned earlier today in the MC thread that Tessy was starting to limp. Well, I just noticed that her paw is now swelled some. Her back right. I'm not sure if this is from her recent chemotherapy she had yesterday (doxorubicin) or not. I can't see anything else wrong with her paw. I was...

advice on giving ear medication
Zoey got a foxtail in her ear this weekend and I got it removed on Monday. The vet said it was pretty deep in there. We tried holding her still at the vets and it didn't work, they had to sedate her to get it out safely. Now i have to give her medication in that ear. I've gotten it in there twice...

Copper's hurt paw Wait it out or Vet visit?
He wasn't limping so I never knew anything was wrong but when I was inside I notice what at first I thought was a blood spot but I didn't think of anything, anyway on the porch I started to notice blood spots as well so I went and checked all the dogs and it was Copper. Should I take him to the...

Shaving for flea control
So found out yesterday morning that Kota has fleas. He's on monthly Frontline Plus, but he still got them anyway. I suspect it was from the hay loft at a friend's farm that did it because that is where their outside dogs sleep. Plus he's gone swimming a bunch this month. So I dosed him again...

So....this is probably a ridiculously stupid question...
but can humans and dogs trade viruses back and forth? Hap's eyes are really red again today and I just realized so are mine...I've been sleeping for the past two days (since being off work) so I really don't see a reason for mine to be red. And we're still trying to figure out why...

Discharge from penis?
Hey everyone, it's been a long time since I've had an intact male dog, and I *think* I remember it being normal but... T-Bone tends to have just a drop of yellowish goo on the sheath of his penis... he has no trouble urinating and it doesn't bother him at all. Is it some sort of infection...

Ok guys. I need your help. *pic heavy*
My step-brother's dog is a mess. Kasha is a PitxBoxer mix. About a year old. Last year when I saw her last, she was in amazing condition. A happy healthy puppy. This past year her skin is dry and puffy. She's losing her fur, scratching until she bleeds. Her eyes are so puffy you almost can't...

Allergic to Frontline?
I'm having some problems with Chico, my 2 year old Chihuahua. We knew shortly after we'd gotten him that he had some type of skin problem - or what it seemed. He had lost hair around his eyes, tail and back end and was extremely itchy. After years of going to different vets (and getting a million...

Nikon update
Today Nikon saw a radiologist who looked at all his previous x-rays and took new ones. Nikon does have anomalies/abnormalities with how his spine attaches to the pelvis, but the radiologist was able to get better positioning as far as showing off the femoral heads and sockets so that OFA will accept...

Rickards is losing alot of fur
I'm really worried about Rickards and I'm not sure if I'm just freaking out for no reason or if its something serious going on with him. Hes been losing alot of fur over the last month. Its all over my house in chunks. At first I thought maybe something seasonal, but this doesn't seem...

Glucosamine for chronic limp?
Hey guys, T-Bone got hit by a car quite some time ago, and his limp has not healed. There seems to be nothing broken or out of place, but he's still got a pronounced limp. I have lots of Synovi G3 chews (Glucosamine, MSM, creatine, omega 3's and antioxidants) for Reety (she's visiting...

New to here. Question on clear fluid leaking from older female dog...
Hi! I have a question on my older beagle, who we've had for 11 years and she was around 2-3, they guessed, when we got her. Both our beagles are shelter rescues. So she is around 13 years old. She was spayed 11 years ago when we got her and we've never had any issues with her like this but over...

His nails of stone are killing my dremel
Some of you know I have complained about Bugsy's nails in the past - they grow instantly and are ridiculously hard. No amount of walking helps keep them down. In a new development every time I am using the dremel on them after a couple of nails the sandpaper on the little tube unwraps. As you can...

Heartworms and resistance!
Has anyone heard of the heartworm prevention being ineffective now? I had three of my dogs test positive!! They have been on tri heart for two years and heartgard prior to that. I am so upset. I heard the companies would reimburse, but the country vet we use has not always added to the record when we...
