Copper's hurt paw Wait it out or Vet visit?

He wasn't limping so I never knew anything was wrong but when I was inside I notice what at first I thought was a blood spot but I didn't think of anything, anyway on the porch I started to notice blood spots as well so I went and checked all the dogs and it was Copper. Should I take him to the vet or see if it heels? I cleaned it with peroxide and I have some of that stuff when you cut the nails and bleed forgot the name and put it on there as well.

If it wasn't for the blood spots I wouldn't of known because he wasn't limping at all. So does this warrant a vet trip or wait it out?

    Aww my poor Copper Sad

    Owie Cooper !

It probably doesn't need an immediate trip to vet.  I would dab a little neosporin (or similar) on it, piece of "no stick" gauze, and then wrap it in vet wrap.  What I have done is put it on and leave it for about 12 hours.  Then remove the bandage while you can supervise Cooper so he doesn't start licking.  It needs to air out for a while. Then bandage again.  Air out.   If he is good about leaving it alone, probably don't need the bandage after that.  If he wants to bother it....maybe just a sock would do the trick.

    Feel better Cooper

I'd put some musher's secret or similar paw protectant product on it...then wrap it with a non stick dressing & gauze, and put a sock over it for a day or so...then see how it goes from there.

Thanks for the suggestions, well I bought a pair of baby socks thinking it would stay on better which it did but sometime tonight Copper got the sock off and I can't find the sock lmao. There is still that red lump I pray it goes away. I'll give it to monday and if it's gone he'll go to the vet that day.

    Thanks again

Dont use the blood stop on anything else but the nails because it tends to make the blood pool underneath the skin. You want anything that builds up under the skin to be able to get out. If you have white tape use it to bind the sock on and then fold the sock over the tape. You can also use aloe vera it dries the wound and heals. I always keep a plant growing around the house, you just break a little off and rub on. The main thing is to keep it dry.

agreed - since that thing looks weepy-ish (maybe not, just kind of appears to be wet) then you want to dry it out more.  Looks sorta like the inter-digital cysts I've seen.  Gold Bond Powder is helpful in drying such things out, according to my friends whose dogs get them not infrequently.  Watch it, though...
