Learning to groom.

    Learning to groom.

Where did you learn to groom? A grooming school or a groomer taught you?

I went to work in a shop in Malibu California and the owner of the shop taught me. I loved working with the dogs and cats and we also did rescue through the shop. I was there for 6 years. It was a great experience.

I didn't learn everything, but I went to an agricultural high school - in which pet grooming was taught. I then unofficially learned other cuts from the groomers I worked with for a number of years. I wouldn't be able to say groom a poodle unless it was just a simple one length trim lol, but a cocker cut, and other common styles I could do.

There are schools you can go to and that's likely the more popular route these days (maybe not though). The majority of the groomers I worked with however, learned from other groomers directly.

I apprenticed, and have re-apprenticedBig Smile and I keep on learning new things! There's SO much to know, I can't see how a 6 week school could possibly teach enough. I don't know, though. Never done it LOL.

Well i didn't learn pet grooming from anywhere i just check the knowledge from internet any apply on my dogs although it was not an easy task but as long as i built trust between me and my dog, soon it became easy for me to handle the situations.here i am disclosing some of tips which gonna help you lot:-

Trimming of Nails:-Pet's nails should be regularly trimmed and especially of cats as they have a scratching habit. When trimming the nails, be careful not to cut them too short and cause bleeding. Cut the nails until you see a dark circle appearing in the center of the nail.

Brushing:-Before bathing ,the pets need to be brushed out to make sure there are no knots in the furnishings. Knots are big problem in cats and dogs. Brush the beard, legs and underskirt to make sure there are no knots using the Pin Brush.

Bathing:-Cats need to be bathed not more than once a month. While bathing make sure that the temperature of the water is not too hot. Be careful not to get water and shampoo in the ears, eyes and mouth when bathing the pet.
