Moonlight
While I was out on Monday, my grandfather watched Kya at his house. When I came to get her, she had a small marble sized lump on her face. Right under her eye and at the back of her muzzle. He hadn't noticed anything traumatic or a bee sting.
Probably far more apt to be a spider bite -- see if you can use a magnifying glass and see if you see any tiny puncture wounds?
The reason I say spider is b/c they won't go away without anbiotics.
Have you been giving Benedryl? Usually with a bee/wasp sting you have to give the body some antihistamine to help cope with the venom.
For any sort of a sting/bite (or a SUSPECTED one) give the upper dose of Benedryl. The typical dose is 1-2 mg per pound body weight given 2-3 times a day. For a suspected sting give the 2 mg/lb the three times a day.
You're a bit far from the occurrence at thist point ... and yet not enough time for a spider-bite to show decay of the flesh (spider bites can be truly nasty).
An abscessed tooth is also a possible, but usually they don't "pop out" quite that fast.
A spider bite is often something that happens during sleep -- it usually doesn't 'hurt' and often both dog and owner never evern know it has happened. However, as I said, some spider bites actually require antibiotics in order to go away (and don't stop the antibiotic after it "looks better" -- the toxin is far-reaching thru the body).
