A few months ago we found a small pea size lump on Honey's tummy and took her to the vet---she had had a MC tumor removed from her a leg a little over a year ago, and we had lost our other golden retriever girl, KayCee to cancer 2 years agto. So lumps "panic" me. At the time Rickey said he was sure it was just a fatty lump and was so small it would be hard to asperate it, but if it got bigger, bring her back in.Well Thursday morning hubby was giving her a belly rub and he located that lump and it felt bigger to him. It did it me also. I got my perma pen and drew a circle around it---which is hard to do with all that long belly fur she has. And i called the vet to get her in.
Took her in at 3:40 andRickey examined her and the lump and said he was still sure it was just fat, but it was larger, so he did the asperation, and (BIG SIGH OF RELIEF) it was just fat. However, he did say if it does continue to get larger (it really isn't large at all now) he will remove it.
We adopted Honey Dec. 7, 2002 and she was "right at a year old" and already heart worm postivie, so she likely was this side of a year old, meaning she could be turning 9 any time. Rickey is amazed at her and said he couldn't believe she is or is almost 9, acts and looks more like she is 4 years old.. And truth be known, she runs just as hard and fast as any young dog, and tends to play more with her toys--tossing them pouncing on them, shaking them, than she did 4-5 years ago.
