Hairless breeds
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Houndlove's post (and Gina's link) got me curious about hairless dogs. They are so neat looking, and probably cool to pet (and smooch). Sometimes I see a dog, and, based solely on looks , think to myself, "I want one of those!" [sm=biggrin.gif] Salukis, for example. However, right now...

Ok, I don't currently have Ella in training course of any kind, but I am REALLY, REALLY thinking about it. Mainly for socialization more than anything else. Since she is part pit bull, I have no idea what kind or if any dog aggression exists with her. Anyway, I'm going to start carrying a stick...

Help the rescue
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I got my dog Coda from a Husky resuce when he was saved as a tiny baby from a very bad puppy mill. I entered a picture of him in a cute pet contest and suddnly he is tied for first place. Were very excited because if he wins we want to use the money to help his old resuce get dog food and stuff for winter...

shampoo for using often
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
Does anyone know of a shampoo that is ok to use every few days if desired? I know that is not the norm of what should be done, but occasionally, my dogs seem to get smelly quicker and i like them clean. Also, does a lot of exercize attribute to dog smell? Mine always get plenty of exercize, but latly...

Tummy Growling? HELP
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
This morning Pirate woke me up, not with the usual cold-nose-in-the eyeball, but because his tummy was growling! We got up, went for a walk, and came home for breakfast, but he didn't want any. (He did beg for my breakfast, dang dog) Last night I hand-fed his dinner. He can't be hungry, his breakfast...

Aggression Towards Children
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
We have a 3 yr old Australlian Shepard/Lab mix who is stalking children when they come to visit. She nips at their feet & barks. We are not sure if we can keep her since my sister is pregnant, and lives close by. We really don't want to give her up, but when it comes to child safety, we don't...

cottage cheese vs. yogurt
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
I always give the dogs a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese with dinner. Well today at the store the big containers of yogurt were on sale for a $1.50. My question is: does yogurt do the same thing as cottage cheese?

Aggression linked to being territorial
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I don't have a clue as to how to attack this problem with Winnie. She is super-territorial, but in a strange way. For example, if we're out in the backyard and our landlord or the tenants behind us come through, she become very aggressive: hackles go up, barking, snarling, even snapping at...

This issue came up in a thread about barking, but since it was off-topic and I wanted more advice, I'm starting a new thread... My dog seems to have an obssesion with sticks... she picks them up whenever we're outside playing or walking. Sometimes she'll just play with a stick, but a lot...
