    Tummy Growling? HELP

This morning Pirate woke me up, not with the usual cold-nose-in-the eyeball, but because his tummy was growling! We got up, went for a walk, and came home for breakfast, but he didn't want any. (He did beg for my breakfast, dang dog) Last night I hand-fed his dinner. He can't be hungry, his breakfast is right in his bowl. His ''dad'' did leave Tuesday night... could he just be stressed because he left? Should I hand-feed his breakfast too? Yesterday he was his normal self, we went to the park and to the pet store and everything. He pooped normal on his walk this morning. Should we go to the vet? Or call the vet? Or should I just wait it out?

I have read in other places here to try chicken and rice... should I try chicken and rice? I tried hand feeding him his breakfast and he ignored it.

We went in the backyard, and he tried to eat some grass.

If he was moping around I would say he was because he missed his Dad.  But if he is acting normal. well, it could still be that, but i would tend to thimk more along an upset tummy.  And i would try the boiled chicken and rice and if that does not work, then i think it is time for a trip to the vet.  (don't you love the cold nose in the eyeball?  I much prefer the old warm tongue, but somes get the cold nose--and since they are golden retriever, it is big noses.  )

    Good luck with your guy.

You could try yogurt that can help with a noisy tummy.

Thanks guys! The tummy growling has ceased. I will try boiled chicken and rice for lunch, and see if that gets him to eat.

Firestorm- plain yogurt, I guess? I don't know if he would like my peach or such [:)

Any flavor of yogurt is good, just not those kids kind with all kinds of sugar and junk and toppings and all.  As long as it says it has live cultures you can find him a flavor he likes[:)].

Pirate came to work with me today, (I work at a doggie daycare), and his poop had some blood in it. I talked to all of the girls I work with, and they said because his dad is gone, and I've had to leave him home alone more often, that it is probably from stress. So, he rested a while in a room at work, and I brought him out later in the afternoon, and he did fine. He ran, chased balls, barked at other dogs, ect. What does he do when we get home? As I am boiling chicken and making rice? Goes and eats his gross old breakfast that I forgot to pick up this morning. He's now sleeping contentetly on the couch.

So I am planning on giving him the chicken and rice for breakfast. He does have a vet appointment first thing in the morning. But if he's had a normal poop since the bad one, and is eating, drinking, and romping like himself, should we still go?
