When is it too early?
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
What is a good age to start teaching a puppy obedience commands like sit, stay, etc? So far I've been having a hell of a time house training him but it's always worth it in the end, right? He's only 7 weeks old, so I was wondering when is it too early to start verbal commands?

Wet sneakers?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Any ideas on how to dry out wet running sneakers? I was wearing mine at work, and we had to take the trash out in the rain (being the new kid stinks!) and now they are all wet. I have to be there by 6:45am for my shift tomorrow. Any ideas on how to dry them out in 8 hours? ETA: if I could spell....

Out Walking Shippo/Poor Loose Dog
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Well, I was out walking Shippo this morning, in a completely different neighborhood because I've moved now, and I heard a commotion up one of the streets, heard some yelling, and saw a very nervous-looking dog running towards us (I swear, I must have a sign on my back that says "All dogs, come...

The differences in being a kid and being an adult
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I thought it might be potentially fun to poke some fun at our "grown" selves! Here's mine, today was "PAJAMA DAY' at Lily's school for the Kindergarten class. Other classes do this periodically. My daughter was STOKED....to say the least. We went out and bought her...

Hi everyone, Just wanted to say hi and show some pictures from this year. Sundance is 18 (19 in spring) and is doing well in every area except his eye. As some of you know he's blind in it and has been since he was about 4. We've had absolutely no issues with it aside from color change until...

Meat diet causes yeasty ears?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Right after Bear came home, I noticed that his ears were a bit funky. An exam by the vet determined it to be a yeast infection. Today I went back for a re-check and while I was waiting, one of the ladies who volunteers at the shelter a lot came in. She immediately recognized Bear, asked how he was, what...

Have we figured it out?????

Health & Grooming
Well, after treating Charlie's mange, we got most of his skin problems taken care of; however, we were still left with a almost constant rash on his belly. The vet said it might be something that he would grow out of and let's treat with Benedryl and some skin cream. Neither was doing much but...
