On the dog food rollercoaster...

most dogs really don't find plain kibble, of any brand, ;palatable. Especially after eating the same plain kibble every day, day after day. I would not let "palatablility" be a major factor in your choice (unless the dog clearly absolutely  hates it). You can use "tough love" to get the dog to eat the kibble that healthwise he does best on, or you can make any kibble more palatable and more healthy by mixing in some canned foods, canned fish, fresh meats, etc.

I'd go back to the NB if it worked.

I'll chime in that Canidae was excellent for results but after the 3rd bag my dobe started walking away from his bowl.  I think it's an excellent food - but they just didn't find it all that exciting.  Coats were nice though.

I do have less eye boogies and toots on Eagle Pack.  It's been the best so far.

    Thanks for the advice!

He's been on the Chicken Soup food for a week and the farts are BAD.  Poor guy.  Shedding like it's 90 degrees outside or something.  His ears are also starting to feel a little greasy, so I'm a little concerned about that.

I'm leaning toward the Canidae and if THAT doesn't work, I'm going to go back to Eagle Pack and stay there.  It would be the least of the evils.

There was something about the NB, besides cost, that made me switch it, but I can't remember what that is right now.

Again, I really appreciate the advice and thanks!

If you go back to Eagle Pack you might want to try either the holistic duck or lamb rather than the maintenance. I think with the issues you experienced before, one of the simpler holistic formulas might be better.

Hmmm, a good thought.  He did like the taste of the EP - couldn't wait for it.  Ate with gusto.  Maybe I didn't give EP a fair shot!

I understand, my dogs have had everything. My boys did okay on canidae...their poops were pretty stanky though. I have fed Innova more than anything. Wyatt (my ridgeback) did well on innova puppy, but not on adult. He is now eating natural balance venison and brown rice. Everything seems okay so far. Kaiser (GSD) is doing spectacular on innova evo. His coat looks amazing...it gleams! His poops are also very small for a dog of his size, and they actually turn into dusty stuff and go away in a few days. Evo is pretty expensive, but for Kaiser's weight (around 90) i only feed him like 2.5-3 cups a day, and he doesn't finish it. I think it's totally worth it.
