What a relief!! Ulcerated cornea with edema surrounding the ulcer and a single arborizing ventral blood vessel. (say that 4 times fast) is what's going on and she sees no reason the eye should come out. Apparently he's doing a great job at healing this thing on his own hence the surfacing blood vessel. We're going to treat the ulcer with the Trip antibiotic ointment and Itraconazole/DMSO suspension.
He is to wear his guardian mask at all times or most of the time to protect from further injury, but other than that, he's going to do fine and keep his eye as long as there's no discomfort.
I'm SO relieved! I was able to get him on a scale and um, lets just say he's got plenty of stuffing to keep him warm this winter! Yikes. He's about 54" 14.1HH or something like that and he weighed in at 980. That's alot isn't it? He gets little (handful) to no grain and gets 4-5 flakes of hay per day. Gives new meaning to the term "easy keeper" I guess.
I'm so happy for Sunny that it's not serious.

The dr. says his other eye is perfectly fine.
