Can puppies sense anxiety?
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I may need a human psychologist instead of a doggie psychologist, but here goes... I have a 15-week old Tibetan Terrier -- my first puppy ever. (My last two dogs were goldens who were rescued as adults.) I have been very anxious since we got the puppy -- trying to make sure he gets housebroken, trying...

Let's say you get a fruitcake for Christmas, what would you do with it? I hate those things, and I would give it away.

Clickers in action (Canis Film Festival)
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Here's some great footage of people using the clicker to train thier animals (not just dogs!) to do all sorts of things. I've only watched 2 of the films, but really enjoyed the CIA Murphy Heel and TopperBoo Weave Poles. I will tell you that Murphy is a dog, but TopperBoo definately is not! ...

Some of my Christmas commissions...
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
It's been another busy one! I have an Afghan hound left to do, then I'll be painting a Saluki portrait on a toilet seat ([sm=lol.gif]) and several different dog portraits on toss pillows. If I ever get clear of all of that, I'm going to do an oil of Dani. And if my son ever sends me photos...

Ticks in December...??
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Well this is a first for me...I found a deer tick crawling across my bed last night! In the middle of December! I'd heard of them in October, maybe even November...but not in December when there's supposed to be 2 feet of snow on the ground. I've been out walking the dogs wearing only a sweatshirt...

What "chores" does your dog do?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Well, flyball class has ended until spring and I know I could do the agility class to keep my energetic dog's brain occupied. But, I'm curious what sorts of jobs I could have her do around the house. We don't get the paper, so that's out. But we do get our milk and eggs delivered. Perhaps...

Be Aware of this Disease
Posted to:

By posting this today, I am fulfilling my promise to my best friend, Brody. At 110lbs. of all american black lab, he was my heart and soul. My heart broke Dec. 12 when I could do no more for him...except promise to let others know about the disease that took him. If you and your dogs hike wooded trails...

Scout in Canada
ARRRG!!
Posted to:

Well, the first day I brought TWO Bison home, Scout was thrilled. She was dancing around, waiting for the bowl to be set down, and then gobbled it up. Day 2, Day 3: no thanks. This is now the 4th kibble she has shown no interest in after the first couple feedings. We've tried Nutro, Performatrin...

$2?!! Can they make this any harder?
Posted to:

Hi everyone. My son came home from school today and told me that he is to buy a unisex gift for a classmate that costs under $2. Frankly, I find this pretty difficult. Many coloring books, simple books, small toys are over $2. Does anyone here have any ideas? --Sara

Ear Infection
Posted to:

Honey was shaking her head and walking around with it tilted to the left part of the time. Called my vet first thing this morning and got an appointment to bring her in. Sure enough it was a deep infection. There is no sign of it on the outer part of the ear, no red or even pink, no wax or gunk. He had...
