Kennel Cough
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
Ok so my unvaccinated dog may have been exposed to a dog with kennel cough. I've talked with my vet and know what to look for but I had some other questions and thought the collective knowledge of Idog might know. 1) How contagious is it after the infected dog is gone? Like will the virus survive...

Minsk vomited a bit of frothy bile this morning. Earlier he had refused to eat his breakfast. He has eaten some treats, but with a little less gusto then normal. He has been a little lethargic since, but not to the point where he passed up the opportunity to hunt a fly in the living room for about 20...

I have a weird question here... we have two dogs one is a puppy and the other is a young adult labrador, the problem is that no matter how clean we keep the yard or our dogs the older one always have flies over his ears or when he is laying down they get on top of his legs and paws. Not so many, just...

How to prepare marrow bones?
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
My dogs love those large, precooked marrow bones you can get at petstores. But I saw some raw marrow bones about the same size at my local supermarket the other day, and I wondered if I could make my own for my dogs. I know some people feed their dogs raw meat and bones, but I would rather stick to...

So excited!! (Millionaire auditions today)
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
So the fiance and I went downtown today and auditioned for Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It was insane. We got there at 9am and stood in line until about 11:30 when we were finally given something to fill out. Then they moved us inside with a big group of people and we took the test. They checked them...

So my girlfriend and her mom have a nice, about 5 years old, black lab. Anyways, it lives in it's crate from 8:00am-5:30pm comes out for dinner and while her mom is up and then goes back in the crate all night, 10:00pm - 7:00am. So, it's maybe out of it's crate for about 5 hours a day or...

How bad is bacon?
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Is bacon really bad for dogs? Eli goes nuts when he smells bacon cooking (which is only on the weekends). We give him just a tiny bite as a treat. Is this a horrible thing to do? It's fully cooked, actually crisp. I don't want to hurt him so should I stop doing that?

Eye boogers

My dog has leaky eyes. Its worst in the morning - a thick, sometimes yellowy discharge. She has some clear discharge during the day, but if it builds up, its white-ish. It may be unrelated, but she threw up twice in the past 3 days & had some regular as well as loose stool and has been on and off...

Interesting legislation

I just read an article in the Tacoma paper about some legislation they're trying to pass here. The new law will require anyone who does not have their dog or cat spayed/neutered to register for a breeder's license. The article didn't say how much this license would be or what the fine would...
