    How bad is bacon?

Is bacon really bad for dogs?  Eli goes nuts when he smells bacon cooking (which is only on the weekends).  We give him just a tiny bite as a treat.  Is this a horrible thing to do?  It's fully cooked, actually crisp.  I don't want to hurt him so should I stop doing that?

Bacon is not good for any of us!  HOWEVER,,, I LOVE BLT sandwiches,,,and occasional breakfast with it. I give Bubblegum a piece after its cooked. It not very often so why not.

mmm. Bacon. I took some to doggy class last night as a "super training reward" and ended up eating most of it myself.

I swear bacon should be its own food group. And Chocolate. yum.

I will on occasion let my dogs have a bite. Not regularly, but every now and then. Most of the time it never gets pause between the plate and my belly. [:D]

Thanks!  I guess I won't do any irrepairable harm if he gets an occasional bite.

Same here.  We don't eat it all that often, but when we do there's no way I could not give Max a little bit. [:D] Is there anything better after Thanksgiving than a nice big turkey & BLT club sandwich?

As a Former Meat Market owner, the smell of bacon cooking would sure make the customer and myself pretty hungry, its like smelling fresh flowers in a green house to us butchers.
But, I would give it to the 4 legged pals very sparingly, one reason, it is high in Nitrates as is all smoked meats, and also fatty which could trigger pancreatitis, which I'm paranoid about anyway. But,I doubt a few bites once in awhile would hurt.

*Occasional bite* is key.  And try not to give the fat.  Pork fat is the #1 cause of pancreatitis and having lost my Kayla to exactly that recently, I avoid it completely.

I'm very sorry about Kayla, do you have any clues on what triggered the pancreatitis?
