• Favorite Treats Jennifer Parkers Posted : 8/18/2006 5:13:41 PM Hi everyone.  I am new here and this Forum seems to be a great resource for answers.  So, my question is: what are you favorite treats?  Please keep in mind, my dog is totally spoiled!   I am always looking for yummy & healthy treats for him.   Thanks for your help! • kennel_keeper Posted : 8/18/2006 8:43:05 PM I hear alot on here about treats, but haven't heard of ANYONE  who dehydrates the canned foods to use as treats. This is GREAT for dogs with "sensitivities" and the dogs love it! We have a few that board with us that can't have ANYTHING treatwise, but after talking to a few clients, we have decided that these "treats" are wonderful! • cakana Posted : 8/18/2006 8:52:18 PM Actually, I've posted something similar.  When I did the elimination diet of pork & buckwheat for 12 weeks, I was desperate for something for a treat.  I took uncooked, but browned buckwheat and ground it into a flour consistency.  I mixed that with ground, cooked pork and buckwheat and made little rounds and baked them.  They were like crunchy cookies and Sassy loved them.  I made them in large batches and froze some and refrigerated some.  I should try that with the dry and canned duck & potato.  It'd probably be great.  Thanks for the idea. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. You just used the canned version of the food your dog is on (ie: NB Duck...) spread a thin layer (1/4" thick) on a lined cookie sheet and make score marks in little squares into the layer. Bake at 350 until firm (not crispy, about 20 minutes). Once it's cooled, break the pieces up and store in a zip lock with grains of uncooked rice (to keep it dry).
