I've been swanning around in the field for the last 10 days, enjoying some away-from-city time and just wanted to share how nice it was with everyone. The bird/frog summer fauna monitoring trip down south was pleasant enough. There's been so much rain in the catchment lately that the roads were...

Pulling Beagle help...
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
What do you all recommend to get a Beagle puppy to stop pulling, particularly when there are bunnies/bunny scents around? We live in a highly bunny populated area (in our apartment complex and adjoining neighborhood & park). I love that she gets to “track” everyday, it’s her favorite thing, but the...

Has been making strange posts...all connected to one topic. They don't seem to "get" that they can respond within ONE post. I merged ALL 3 threads into one in general and another 2 in behavior. They are impatient and don't seem to have a good grasp of English. If they do not respond...

Shy dogs and Time
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I know this is probably the umteenth time I've posted a thread about Kenya, but I have a more specific question this time: for those that have experience adopting an adult dog that is very shy, reserved, sometimes fearful (though not aggressive or reactive), how long did it take the dog to "get...

Changing foods and help wanted

Some might know that I am a Purina user. Pro Plan Selects puppy to be exact. It is a Turkey Barley formula. So Dublin did very well on it for his first year with us and now I decided to make the switch over to the same food in Adult. Not so fast says Dublin's stomach. He is gassy and unwell on it...

Inaccurate book?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I'm going to be brave and start a topic for my first post. Yesterday I was at the doctor's office and they had a book on dogs meant for children. It had pictures of different breeds and little blurbs about them. The picture of a Greyhound showed a dog with a racing muzzle on and this is what...

Meet Bumps. He is 8ish years old and is a Rotti/Lab mix. (Yes that is a ball in his mouth) Bumps is a big boy. He makes Maze look like a puppy... (For a size comparison. Maze is on the left and Bumps in on the right) Bumps loves it when Maze comes over to play because all the other doggies are afraid...

Allergy Shot Side Effects

I took Abbie to the vet the other day for an ear infection and he gave her an allergy shot. Since then she's been acting weird. She is famished all the time and normally she is a very sensible eater. She takes her time and eats only until satisfied. Both girls are fed very well, I home cook and they...

Jules, my 6 year old neutered yorkie, has been losing hair on his ears and the top of his nose. In addition, he's what the vets have been jokingly calling (in good spirits, mind you) a 'metabolic machine' as he has to eat a ton for a dog his size (he's 9.2 lbs and quite thin) He had a...
