leash him for walks, don't just let him out in the yard. Walk him until he goes - they will go eventually! And as always - don't scold him for going inside. That never helps anything.

What kind of reaction was this?

Sorry -- I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what you're saying.

What sort of 'reaction'.  Be specific please.

How long it takes to get beyond a reaction depends on the specific reaction so there's no set answer for you.

What breed (s) is Fox?  Did you call the vet as soon as it happened?

Homeopathic thuja is good to give after a vaccine (3-4 pellets -- don't handle them - just twist the little container so they fall into a small saucer and just let the dog lick them up.  They are sweet and most dogs think they are a treat.  Give 2-3 times a day for 3-4 days.  Get it at a health store.  Ask for Boiron's homeopathic Thuja.  Not expensive.

You have to do certain things JUST because as responsible guardians we DO.

No apology there.  You say "Fox -- we gotta do this.  It's the law!"

But next time make sure the vet is prepared and KNOWS there was a bad reaction.  In fact, I'd re-evalute all vaccines and only give what is absolutely necessary -- titer for things like parvo and distemper instead.  You can't titer for rabies just for a bad reaction (they only do that when it's life/death that an animal can NOT take any vaccines for health reason).

But no, don't apologize.  And if the general feeling of 'yuck' persists, go back to the vet.  Sometimes things are simply a coincidence and really aren't a 'reaction' at all.

How on earth did you 2 decipher what the OP is trying to say?? I've read and re-read the OP and cant make any sense out of it Indifferent

Fox, the dog, had his rabies vaccine today. He had to get to the vets in a car, and he does not like car rides.

He's been feeling under the weather today - not eating much, plus, it's cold outside.

All of this means Fox does not want to go outside to go to the bathroom.

Pretty close? I think... that's how I interperated it anyways,

If you posted on the same thread, Fox's story would be easier to follow, and you'd be able to find all of the replies to your comments.

If Fox is just feeling a little under the weather, maybe not eating immediately, but is still alert, playing with his toys, drinking water, etc (which is what I interpreted?) - it is probably normal. Some dogs (and people) feel a little cruddy after a vaccine - it is just how the body reacts to it.

Real vaccine reactions are usually very fast and life-threatening.
