Once you have made the decision to spay, put careful considering into picking the surgery day. If you work during the week (like...

Exercise for Toy Breeds
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
A new household rule is "Kayla" must stay in her crate while we are away from the home. It helped us resolve all potty training issues and destructive behavior. Maybe one day she can have free range of certain rooms in the apartment but for now I want to stick to the crate training. With...

names

This might be a silly question, but....I am getting a new puppy in a few weeks and my husband wants to name him 'Zack'. My concern is that there will be confusion during training with my other dog 'Zoe'. Am I better off picking a name that starts with a different sound?

we're going to be taking our two dogs on an 8-10 mile hike tomorrow so we were wondering what type of foods are good to take for them since we're going to be active all day.

Impulsive Exhilaration during Commands/Tricks
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
How can you regain/redirect focus when doing commands/tricks? My Pomeranian tends to be extremely over excited when asked to do tricks or perform tasks. She will wiggle, wag, and jump about. Sometimes the word "trick" triggers her to do 5 different tricks right after one another (i.e. she...

Yay for Maddi!

Silliness, I know, but I am so very happy! Today was Maddi's first time at doggy day care and she got a good report! They said she played virtually all day with another newbie to the day care, which makes me so happy because I think she's really been lacking in the doggy friendship side.....

The new sister site that dog.com has? It's pretty cool - all outdoor/patio/garden stuff. The link is right under the cute sleeping pup on the home page. That kind of stuff is one of my weaknesses and that time of year is almost here. Joyce

I got new frames for the family photos, and my kid's baby pics are faded even though they have been kept away from light. Does anyone know if they still make photos from slides? I know at least my son's pic was taken by Hubby and the slide should be somewhere around here. I'd like to get...

Hi Everyone. Well this seems like a great forum!! My name is Debbie. I have a few toy breeds, mostly mixed, at home. I foster, and adopt, for a small breed rescue. Love the big breeds, too, but live in a condo, with limited space. Looking forward to joining in, and meeting all the fluff butts...

I just adopted a 7 year old Pekingese dog who is not spayed. From what the previous owner told me, she has had two litters in the past. She has not been in heat for over a year. Do dogs go through menopause? I know there are health benefits to having a dog spayed but at this point would it still...
