I got new frames for the family photos, and my kid's baby pics are faded even though they have been kept away from light.  Does anyone know if they still make photos from slides?  I know at least my son's pic was taken by Hubby and the slide should be somewhere around here.  I'd like to get it redone if I can.

If you google "photos from slides" you'll get lots of information. You probably should get them in digital form and then transfer to paper.

Most photography stores still develop photos from negatives & slides. There are still some photography buffs and students that use good old film!

We have a friend that is a professional photographer (does really artsy stuff too, won some awards).  My dad asked him if he could switch our slides to digital, and he said all he does is project them on a screen and take a new pic with the digital camera.  He said he's got some scanners, but the hours of time that would take would make the cost exorbitant, and most common people's digital cameras have a pretty comparable resolution anyway.  My dad did as he said, even made prints from the slides, and no one can even tell.

Wow, Liesje, that is interesting!  I never even thought about scanning a slide or taking a picture from the screen.  I may have to do some experimenting.

But it's good to know that if I don't succeed, a photo store can do it!

If you have a scanner and some free time, you can get a slide scanner attachment for many scanners and do it yourself at home. I'm not sure how much these things cost, but that's what we used at my high school in my photography classes. It's like a little cupholder-like tray that you stick the slide in to scan it. Might be worth looking in to if it sounds fun or you have a bunch of them!
