Keeping up over the summer.
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
So I was watching some commercial on tv...I think for Sylvan and it said that kids can lose up to 3 months worth of schooling over the course of a summer. I'd like to minimize that for Kale if possible. But I don't necessarily want to give him schoolwork to do everyday or anything. Does anyone...

Monday nights (Coke and Kenya)
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Mondays we all go to the dog club for agility and then mess around with the other dogs afterward (or doing all sorts of things we can't do at home - digging big holes, splashing in the pool...). Kenya LOVES to ride in the car and I've always meant to take pics of her in the car b/c she is so...

THIS should be funny. He absolutely HATES to wear his glove. That's not too important for baseball tho right? hehehe.... I feel bad for his coach, honestly I do. But if he can tame the wild beast he'll have a huge, natural southpaw on his hands that's strong as an ox...lol.

It was decided, today, that my salon needs a new name. It has a bad name, in town, so... I'm changing it. We're different people, running it differently, and we need a name! I have it down to two names, so you guys get to help me out, LOL. The first one... we both LOOOOVE dog feets. It's...

Shelter Question
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I've been volunteering at a local shelter for about 7 months now ~ approx. 13-15 hours per week. I know many of you work or volunteer at shelters. I am bothered by some things that I have experienced in the time that I've been with this shelter. A particular situation that I just became aware...

High Value Treats
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
So what would your dogs walk through fire for? It took some experimenting with Ari, but the SO and I finally found a high value treat....it wasn't chicken, it wasn't liver treats, it wasn't steak, it wasn't even peanut butter (though this his handy for nail trimmings and bath time!)....

Does your dog do better on or off leash?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Example: Tootsie and I were walking today on the track ( off leash) and there were people running, biking, playing catch, etc... and she walked at a perfect heel for 4 laps. I was very impressed. What are everyone elses experience and opinions?

Horrible Abuse and Amazing Recovery.....
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I just came across the story of a mare named Naysa. It shows the extremes of cruelty that people can reach, but also the amazing good that this mare's determined saviors did. The video that is posted is both sad and graphic , so be warned..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43JeFqPlKPs

Amount of iron in EVO
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Thought this was worth mentioning; I was browsing Mordanna's forum and came across a post about the amount of iron in EVO Reduced Fat. It has several more times the amount recommended by the NRC. I did some number crunching and Jessie would get 1.4 cups a day of the RF daily if I fed it. According...

My Coke turns 2 today. Here is what I'm sending to his rescue... To VPC and Coke's foster family, I just wanted to send an update on Coke's (formerly Teddy) second birthday. I think it's cool we know his actual birthday! It's so easy for me to remember - 7.7.2006 We have nothing but...

Best guard breed under 50lbs.
Posted to:
Choosing A Dog
Just curious to see everyone's opinion on what breed they consider to be the most efficient guard dog under 50lbs. besides a APBT. I vote the standard schnauzer as a good contender.

Anyone have experience ordering from here? I placed an order over the weekend (not expecting it to ship right out because of the holiday weekend). They carry the petguard dry/canned and my guinea pig Oxbow food and hay, and it will be shipped right to my door (not a bad price for shipping, I thought...
