rwbeagles-So Eli's first TBall practice is tomorrow

THIS should be funny. He absolutely HATES to wear his glove. That's not too important for baseball tho right? hehehe....

I feel bad for his coach, honestly I do. But if he can tame the wild beast he'll have a huge, natural southpaw on his hands that's strong as an ox...lol.

When my son started t-ball he was so bored he actually sat down in the outfieldConfused He loves the game now though.Have fun, these days go by too quickly.

He hates to wear his glove? Is it because it isn't broken in?

I have noticed that really good leather gloves can be hard for young kids to use because they are inflexible until they are REALLY broken in---which takes forever. BUT I have also noticed that less expensive vinyl gloves from walmart are much easier for young kids to manipulate---which means they are more likely to use them and gain confidence with them....

Just tossing in my two cents because sometimes wearing and properly using a glove can save a kid from getting a ball in the face (yup, been there, done that.Big Smile).

    I hope he has fun.

PS Bringing a video camera to the games and practices is a MUST. I have video of kids playing in the dirt, dancing on base. It is a riot.

I think he doesn't like it...because he hates having his hand covered LOL.

He is left handed and wants to catch the ball with that hand...he does not like the right hand covered by the glove and it being used to catch...he wants to put the glove on his dominant hand, and catch the ball there but he cannot catch or throw well, with his right...because he's left handed. Confusing eh?

He is primarily frustrated I think...not being able to "use" his hands, both of them, the way he is used to using them...free and open and not covered up. DH has been oiling up his glove. WalMart actually doesn't have ANY left handers glove.

    It's a right hander's world! lol...

haha! I hope he has fun!!!!

We have a baseball diamond across the street from my house, and it is so funny to watch the little kids playing t-ball, sometimes you see two or three of the outfielder's rolling around in the grass lol or one or two of the basemens dancing around lol

     I hope Eli has fun!!

LOL that sounds like good comedy to me. DH is worried and I am a bit too but more interested in seeing how he reacts to being coached and the kind of stuff he will find to amuse himself on the bench or in the outfield. He'll probably just get up and walk over to us and chat whenever he feels like it, lol.

Of course being that it's going to be 90some degrees out tonight when we head over there I guess I should be more concerned that he will even want to leave the shade and go play at all...whew!

In the T-ball games I've seen, the coach's primary job seems to be herding the little fellows around and making sure they actually stay on the field during the game! I bet Eli will be just fine Stick out tongue

I love little kid T-Ball games!  When my youngest DS was playing, the games were 3 innings or an hour - whichever came first. I remember one game he was running the bases and he stopped, pulled down his shorts, tucked his shirt neatly into his underwear, pulled his shorts back up and finished running.  I wish we'd had a camera for that one.

So I think it went okay. He pfft'd out towards the end but an hour in 97degree heat is a lot to ask him. He seemed very into the other kids and running the bases and hitting...but he still HATES HIS GLOVE lol. We'll have to make him wear it daily I guess. I think he was well within the middle of the pack with regards to ability, and social skills.  They seemed about his speed....4 year olds and a sprinkling of 5's that aren't in Kindergarten. He'll be turning 5 next month. He got his hat and his shirt/uniform which I am not sure will fit beyond the first wash lol...

Another practice on Friday...maybe I can grab a pic or two then...his team is called the Bears, lol. Bad News or not remains to be seen!

If he wants to catch with his left is there any chance he could throw with his right????LOL

We had three lefties on our tball team this year---one batted lefty and caught lefty, one batted righty and caught lefty and one batted lefty and caught righty Hmm

Lefties have SUCH a hard time with gloves, but (on the good side) there is an advantage when you bat lefty Big Smile.

Have fun and stay cool---it's been brutal here. Oldest son played in a late afternoon allstar tournament and it was 95 out---their uniforms are BLACK hat/shirt and grey pants. UGH!
