does anyone know the signs of a dog with diabetes?
I know two signs are excessive water intake and weightloss both of which my Abby has. She will drink gallons of water at a time and at first I was thinking well she plays more than other dogs so that might be why but in the 4 months I've had her she's never stopped drink a ton of water at a time...

Talk to me about ACL injuries (Bugsy)
well the penny has dropped today, no more 'woohoo it isn't hips', changed to 'OK what do we do now?' They want to do a TPLO, I am not so sure. The amount of fluid in his knee was minimal, I need to call and ask about the 'drawer' test but I dont' think there is serious...

Riley help, please (Rimadyl reaction)
Well Riley had an eye issue (most likely some little twig or dirt in his eye) that caused his eye to become inflamed, red, and emit a yellow discharge. We saw the vet and have been applying a Neopolydex ointment 3x a day and 75mg Rimadyl a day to reduce the inflammation and pain. His eye is 1000x better...

Dog pees in his sleep!
We have a 14 year old Beagle who never has accidents in the house while he's awake. But on occasion will lose all control of his bladder when he's asleep. It's pretty messy. Any ideas? He also drinks a TON of water but blood work came back normal?? Allen

Leaks no More
Hi, I know this topic has been discussed before but I need alittle more information. Pella, my 9 yr lab has had incontinence for about 7 years, and she has been on Proin as a treatment. Now I know this is not the best thing for her. About a year ago they switched her (because she was starting to have...

Dryers, which one?
I'm seriously considering getting a dryer for my dogs. I hardly ever bath them in the winter anyway, but its only half cause they don't get dirty. The other half is that there is no way to get them dry in the winter before they need to go back outside. They have way too much coat! So I was looking...

Eye Injury/Infection
Hi all, Over the past 24 hours I've noticed that Riley's left eye is irritated. There is a watery discharge around it. The tissue (not sure if I'm using the correct term?) around the eye is red and inflamed. If I gently pull his fur/skin away and look closely, I I can see a white spot...

Astra's limping again...
She hasn't hurt herself as far as I can tell. In the house, normally she's fine. She starts to limp the second she steps outside. It doesn't seem like your normal I don't want to get my paws wet limp. But she does put the paw down and walk just fine once she's back inside. But she's...

DVM Hylyt Products, Could This Be True
I'm in need of shampoo and bath oil for Mr. Nemo. I asked my sister to stop by PetSmart to pick some up. They didn't have any in stock so I started looking online. I've not been able to find it at any of the places I normally shop so when I went to my vet's linked online store to reorder...

Swelling & Benadryl
Hi, It's been about 2 years since I've logged on, but find myself lurking constantly especially at all the fantastic pictures everyone posts of their dogs. I do however, sign back on with a dilemma. Roxy, my 4 year old Chi, is swollen. My parents had her at the cottage with them over the...

Positive Thoughts and Vibes Needed for Tessy
I'm hoping that it's nothing serious but Tessy has to go back in to the doctors again today for her eye. It seems as if her mouth doesn't want to open as it usually does. She doesn't even seem interested in her ball.....and that's unheard of with Tessy. Perhaps the eye is in a little...

Alternative protection against ticks
Hi all, Instead of using sprays or whatever to prevent your dog - or cat - from getting ticks, there's a much easier way - put an amberdog collar on your dog or cat. It contains amber stones and amber is something ticks do not like. I tried it out on my dog - of course it has to be THE original with...

Molson....again (BlackLabbie)
OK, his hotspots are clear and he's not as itchy . His anus looks normal again except it's turning a very dark pigment. The vet has no idea why since he's doing great compared to a few weeks ago. Any ideas? The vet said don't worry about it...but um...I don't think it's normal...
