Green mucus in eyes (question for Callie)

Sol has had what looks like green mucus come out of his eyes. I don't know if its a sign of infection? Callie is it ok to rinse with chamomile water?

Don't put chlorinated water in the eyes - it would hurt.  Something like HypoTears or saline solution for human eyes is ok.

But that needs to be seen by a vet -- any color discharge from the eyes is probably infection.

chamomile is going to be too too strong for the eye.   Hypo Tears is your best bet and then the vet on Friday.

OK! I will let Tracy know (she is the one that does transport)

I always keep a tube of Terimycin (sp) eye ointment on hand at home. You can order it from various pet retailers. It's a good way to keep small isues from getting out of hand. Conjunctivitis etc. Having a vet see it is good the first time but once you have had a bit of experience with eyes it's usually okay to start with the ointment and give it a few days to see how that goes.

Gina is absolutely right but I really didn't figure Sowilu would have anything like that at hand.

I know we have terramycin (for people) but I doubt its for the eyes. I will add that to my "to get list". Thanks for the info. Tracy gave me some eye drops and some meds. Now he has a pain on his hind right foot and I don't know if its because of the rabies or because he got neutered. I will call tomorrow where he got neuter and ask where they gave him the shot.
