Astra's limping again...

    Astra's limping again...

She hasn't hurt herself as far as I can tell. In the house, normally she's fine.

She starts to limp the second she steps outside. It doesn't seem like your normal I don't want to get my paws wet limp. But she does put the paw down and walk just fine once she's back inside.

But she's also holding the paw up after too long a game of fetch.

    I'm clueless about this.

Chyna has had four surgeries on one of her front legs, & she uses it for sympathy off & on.  If it's raining outside & she's getting sent out, I can promise you that her leg mysteriously hurts.  She would probably be more convincing if she didn't change "hurt" legs halfway through her performance...

If she is otherwise normal, then I would try to ignore the behavior completely to see if it goes away.  I know that, sometimes, they realize that a behavior garners attention, so they take advantage of it.

If you think that she's genuinely hurt, then I'd crate rest her for a full week to see if she improves during that time.

She's still doing it today. Could it be the cold?? Its the same knee she was having problems with before.

Anything I can do to help it? She's only 5lbs so I'm reluctant to give her any medicines.

How cold is it there?  Does she do it regardless where she is outside?  Different textured surfaces?  Is it possible she might have hurt herself outside somewhere and remembers the area.  One of my dogs got a bad splinter coming up the steps of the old patio one time and for 2 days afterward she was scared to go near the same steps.

If she's had problems with that knee before, then it could be the cold that's causing it.  Does she have a luxating patella?  If so, she may have mild arthritis that the cold is causing to flare up.

She does have a luxating patella.
