What am I supposed to say?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Whenever I tell my friends and family that I am interested in breeding dogs one day, they almost ALWAYS say this: "That's a good idea, there's good money in dog-breeding!" I just cringe when I hear that. I'm not doing it for the money! What am I supposed to say?

Verus pet foods? Good or not?
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Does anyone know anything about this dog food. With all the recalls happening including the ones with ingredients placed unknowingly in the foods it just worries me. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about this brand and if it seems to be a good brand. It appears to include ingredients...

Stressed Out
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Ok, I just needed a place to vent. We are moving this weekend from a three bedroom apartment to a three bedroom house. I am about 26 weeks pregnant (6 months) and have a toddler running around as well. I'm flipping out right now because we have a lot of stuff--enough to fill a 5 bedroom house at...

Purina foods
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
I know there are as many ideas on what to feed as there are pets in the world. We have fed Purina Pro Plan to our 5 Borzoi and 1 greyhound for the past year and their coats look great, they are in peak health (Alex and Ivy have taken points at the last three shows they were in) and if you read the ingredients...

Confidence
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I think another effect of clicker training, specifically free-shaping, is an improvement in confidence in both dog and owner. When the dog realizes that he/she can offer behavior and be rewarded, they will do so, which would be the most visual representation of positive operant conditioning. A creature...

Eagle Pack Holistic Duck Meal and Oatmeal
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Anyone try this? I'm thinking about trying it for Ella. I'm looking for better stools, people. WITHOUT having to rely on Prozyme. My problem? I put in my zipcode and cannot locate a place near me that sells it. My Petco sells the regular line but not the Holistic line.

Honest Kitchen email

Hey Guys Just wanted to post part of the honest kitchen email I got today. It's nice to see companies, even those who "shouldn't" have any of the potentially contaminated ingredients testing anyway. Speaking of the recall… We'd like to let you know what we're doing to ensure our products...

dog nutrition in the "olden" days
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
It seems like this day in age, there is so much out there for pets. Back in the "olden" days, when life seemed simpler, and there weren't that many dog foods to choose from. And the dog foods that were made were basically junk and not premium based like some are today. It seems like dogs...

Worried about Daisey
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
I've been feeding NB and CSoup for 2 years now exclusively. The vet just called me and said that Daisey's creatine levels are really high. I did some research on my own and a 1.9 MAY indicate kidney failure. I am being optimistic and praying it's not the food. All this time I thought...

Urine tests-dog food recall
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Just got off the phone with a vet friend of mine. This has to do with the pet food recall so I put it here so everyone would see. Make sure with the kitties you get a UA done too. She told me that a kitty came in with normal blood work but the UA showed wagon wheel crystals and that is real bad when...
