Eagle Pack Holistic Duck Meal and Oatmeal

I find the best way to get proper stools in dogs is to avoid grains and fiber. These ingredients tend to give you bulky soft stools-- some dogs make well-formed bulky soft stools, but once you've seen the stools of a raw-fed dog the difference is shocking; your idea of a "normal" doggy poop will be altered forever. EP has a lot of grain in it.

I don't know about this statement. At all!
I feed Eagle Pack....several of the formulas. Bubblegum or Ollies stools don't seem to change much with the change of formulas. Both of them have very firm stools...although large. BUT what is large to a Great Dane???  The only time Bubblegums stool soften up is when I give her raw bones that have too much meat on them....she ends up with the squirts for a couple of days. Also pumpkin softens her stools a lot.
Bubblegum also doesn't seem to notice the difference between the taste of any of Eagles formulas either...she eagerly eats all of them.

I think it really depends on the dog. One of my Pugs has very solid poops on Eagle Duck Potato, most other foods he has softer stools. I have also had several Pugs have very soft stools on Evo, so really depends on your dog. I can also switch to Eagle from other foods with hardly any transition, and no problems.

In relation to other kibbles? Eagle Pack Duck is 40% duck meal. I could tell the difference too when I fed Jessie the IVD Potato and Rabbit diet last winter; the first ingredient is potatoes. Jessie lost muscle tone while she was on it.  When she went back to Eagle Pack she regained her muscle tone.

ok, i know this thread was more about EP but is there any kind of consensus at all on firmer stools...grain, grain-free, raw, bones, etc, etc?  is prozyme a possible answer? short or long term? just seeking some (possible) difinitive direction...

Prozyme seemed to work for Ella, but it's not something you should rely on for long term.
Raw food definitely shrinks and firms up stools if your dog doesn't react poorly to the raw, that is.

Milo, our Shih Tzu is on Eagle Pack Holistic Chicken and Rice dry flavor.  He used to eat Eukanuba Small Dog, but it started making him sick.  We buy our EPH at a local Petland store.  There are several stores in and around the Chicago area that carry this line, since it's from Northern Indiana. We're in Indianapolis.
