Is inguinal hernia serious?
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
Newbie to the forum. Hi~! Is inguinal hernia as common as the umbilical? Is it serious? I've read many posts about the umbilical hernia and that it's not a big deal, but there seems to be no posts about inguinal hernia. I have a 6 wk old puppy (picking up from breeder at 10 wks) and...

Dogs have fleas
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
Hi, I'm new to this forum and I need some advice. On Saturday night I noticed that my two dogs had fleas. They've never had fleas before so I'm not quite sure how to deal with it. But yesterday I went to the pet store and got some flea shampoo and new flea and tick collars (the ones they...

loose stools after surgery--longish
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Sunny was spayed a week ago from yesterday and also had an umbilical hernia repaired. She took rimadyl for 2 days afterwards and I noticed her stools were loose and attributed it to that. But now she has had no pain medication for 5 days and she continues to have loose stools. This is not diarrhea. She...

Toy Poodle Getting Old
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Our 14 year old toy poodle is getting on in years. At this point he seems to be mostly deaf, somewhat blind, and...well...he's not the smartest dog in the world. So, due to his senility
he gets very scared whenever he gets confused. When he gets scared he does stupid stuff like climb...

Do corgis have tails?
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Are their tails docked or are they born without tails? A friend and I were having this discussion tonight and neither of us knew. I think they are so cute and really sweet dogs. But she said she was "scared of them" because they didn't have tails. (she was kidding!)

Vacuum
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
My otherwise sweet, gentle dog HATES the vacuum. When it's on he growls, barks and tries to bite it. (He actually was successful once and burst the bag! Naughty, but I'll admit, it was kind of funny.) Jed was a rescue dog, and I'm not sure what his life was like before I got him or if he'd...

Training & Behavior
My 15 week Shih Tzu had his second vet visit where he was administered his second set of vaccines. I could look up specifically what they are but he's going for his final shots at the end of this month. I asked the Vet if it's safe to enroll him in a puppy group class and he said I should...

flakey/scabby nose
Posted to:

Not sure if this belongs in this section, but perhaps someone can offer me some insight. Daisy has a scabby/flakey nose, I've tried to remove it by picking at it but it became obvious she doesn't like it at all, and even when removed it just comes back after a few days. I've tried to...

Anne will appreciate this story, as most of you know when I first got Trixie my 9 yr old female she was 7 and a scaredy dog. I came onto these boards and to the world, telling everyone that I trained her not to be afraid of thunder or lightening, and I cured her separation anxiety. NOT! yesterday when...
