Training is a breeze, but one problem!

Okay, my mom is sick of Nicholas, the chihuahua who lived in the downstairs of our house with our german shepherd. See, he's not very housetrained. Though, most chihuahuas I've met are nutcases. So, they wanted to give him away or take him to the pound after he peed on my mom's new pillow...

Applying a few days early?
Posted to:
Health & Grooming
I use K-9 Advantix on my dog and was wondering if it would hurt to apply it a few days early. We are leaving for vacation this friday and it would be due for application while we are away. The place we are going (Chincoteague, VA) is well known for its mosquito problem and the trailer park is basically...

Sometimes I think it's unwise for me to leave the house because I end up dealing with total morons. I had to go buy dog food and fish so I took the dogs with. Now when I take Shelby and Souffle with me, they are on a coupler and I walk them with a traffic lead so they are right at my side. As I'm...

weight loss food

I'm not sure, but Jetta may need to loose a little weight. I don't think she is fat, as I can see she definiately has a waist. But its kinda difficult to feel her ribs, so maybe she needs to lose like a pound (maybe two?). What do you suggest is the best way to take some weight off? Should I...

Question about scraps
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Hi, I was wondering if feeding my dog scraps was such a bad thing? I don't think it is, but I'm young, and have heard many different sides to this issue. I only feed him good things like rice, chicken, beef, meatloaf (if we have some left over), etc. I think he needs this in his diet, especially...

Assertive Dog with a Timid dog
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I have one assertive dog who is a collie mix, 9months old and spayed. She is still a puppy and likes to do all the puppy type things. We also have one very timid, docile, dog who is a terrier mix and 6 years old and spayed. Our collie lunges and nips after our terrier mix and this puts her into a...

Stealing food from counter/table
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Please help. My 6 YEAR (yes 6 YEAR old) Yellow Lab (Abby) has developed a most frustrating habit, pushing us to the brink! Over the last 6-9 months, the moment we are not looking, she will jump up on the counter/table to steal food. Last night, she reached new highs, stealing partially frozen ground...

Am I Clicker Training the Right Way?

Lizzie was doing really good on her sit with our clicker training routine. Yes I know she is 5 months old and should know more but I believe in having a solid behavior before starting on the next. She had a REALLY bad ‘come#%92 (she would run away and come back or dance inches away) that has gotten better...

Where oh where is my Puppy from??
Posted to:
Choosing A Dog
Does anyone have any idea of what breed(s) my new puppy Toby might be put together from? The Vet says, "Too many to name", but I was hoping some smart folks out there might be able to shed some light. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm sorry to say, I don't have a clue...

Training the trio

I was reading the clicker training thread and thought it sounded interesting, and I was thinking that maybe my trio would benefit from it. They haven't had any classes or anything, but they are all really intelligent dogs so I think they might pick up on it pretty quickly. I saw someone posted about...
