Truly, I have no idea about this, but here's my thinking:
They give you vials based on weight ranges, right? like 35-50 lbs gets this much medicine. And it lasts for 1 month, which is generically 28-31 days. BUT, every dog is different and has a different weight. So, the medicine will affect each dog in a different dose, much as with people. So, if your dog is on the high end of the weight limit then it generally gets a bit less medicine than the smallest weighted dog in the category. Then I would go for it and say 5 days doesn't matter much. However, if you have a 35 lb dog getting the same dose as a 50 lb dog, then it gets a stronger dose so maybe just take it with you and do it there?
But, it is only 5 days. And the months do vary by a day or two, so obviously only 1 or 2 days can't mean much. And the dose has to be safe for all dogs in the weight range, so they can't make it at near-toxic levels. I would think that it would be fine, and the consequences from getting a tick or mosquito bite are worse IMO.
But again, I am relating to my knowledge of human medicine and we all know that dogs are vastly different creatures in most respects!
