Update on Gobie (was ProPlanSelects Senior) :(
Posted to:
Nutrition & Exercise
Ugh. Where to start... If you'll remember, I said Gobie, the minpin terror, slowed way way down after only a month on ProPlan selects, but dh mentioned that he's not the same dog he was 6 months ago. Today I just patted his neck and he let out a scream and ran away from me. So immediately...

Great News
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I had my own bit of good news to share but something even greater happened. Feb 14, 2008 our grandaughter was born. 8:57 pm. 5 lbs 12 oz. Malia is her name. What kind of name is that, you wonder? Well, her dad is of strong scottish descent. So, there ya go. Also, on a less grandiose note, on Wednesday...

Moving...need storage advice
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I am going to be moving back to my parent's home in April and I will need to store some of my furniture. I am looking at Public Storage, an outdoor, individual garage-like storage facility. I was looking at indoor Public Storage, but it is out of my price range. Will my leather couch be okay stored...

keeping a male puppy intact
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Ok, so I've been discussing with a show breeder of manchester terriers about a co-ownership of a puppy he has. Part of the deal is that the puppy would have to remain intact. I've never had an intact dog, let alone a male dog of any kind, only a spayed female. What is it like to live with an...

Please Help Elmo the Rescue Dog
Posted to:
Rescue & Help
Hi animal loving friends, I hope I'm putting this in the right place. I met Elmo in a Canadian animal shelter and fell in love with this handsome, sweet and goofy dog! He was a favorite with the volunteers but wasn't getting adopted because he clearly had a problem with his hind end. I promised...

Poll? Block function.
Posted to:
Community Help Center
I don't know if this can be made into a poll, or how to do it or who to contact. But anyway. I thought it would be a good idea to get a show of hands: Who WANTS a block function? I thought of putting it in How Are We Doing, but lets face it, hardly anyone goes there and this place gets loads more...

How do you define "success" with your dog?
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
Is "success" winning titles on a dog? Is it working with difficult or damaged dogs? Is it just raising a dog to pee outdoors, not pull on lead or jump on people and only chew his own stuff? Or something else? How do you define it? Are you successful? Why?

I had fostered a litter of 8 puppies a few weeks back, they were only 4 weeks old when I took them in after someone dropped off a box in front of the clinic one night. After a few phone calls and much work all of the puppies went to wonderful homes. Today one of the new owners of a pup they named "Blue"...

Did anyone see the dog on Oprah today?
Posted to:

I did, and it was such a cute, sweet story for a Valentines Day special...it was all about celebrating all kinds of love on vday, not just romantic. The story was about a dog named Ugi (or Oogie, I'm not sure how its spelled) who used to endure "hell on earth" as the show put it perfectly...
