Did anyone see the dog on Oprah today?

I did, and it was such a cute, sweet story for a Valentines Day special...it was all about celebrating all kinds of love on vday, not just romantic. The story was about a dog named Ugi (or Oogie, I'm not sure how its spelled) who used to endure "hell on earth" as the show put it perfectly. He was used as a bait dog for pit bulls in a dog fighting ring. His face, before his surgeries, was really damaged and looked just awful. He only has one ear now and you could see the scars and incision marks all around his neck. A family adopted him when they met him in their vets office one day, and they seemed to all love each other so much...Ugi climbed up on the couch with them on Oprah and was licking the dad's face...it was sooooo cute.

    Anyone else see it?

Edit- thought I'd mention that on the show they also showed a few pictures of adoptable dogs in shelters across the U.S. and Oprah made note of the importance of realizing that a dog is a big decision that requires a lot of work so not to run out to the shelter and get a dog just because. I love things like this. : )

Yep, I saw it (whee for TiVo!).  He was so cute even though he was so scarred.

I loved how close the kids were to him, as well.

I just saw it today (I recorded it).  What a precious sweetheart!  It made me sick to hear what he went through - the pain and suffering he must've endured.  Evil people that left him to die -- I hope they were charged.  It's amazing that he's so loving and seems well adjusted.  And yes, the kids were so in love with him -- even though they were teenage boys, they weren't uncomfortable letting people see them being so affectionate towards a dog, saying how much they loved him, etc.  I was all teary watching it . . . . and now I'm worried about the poor dog when the boys go to college -- they said they were concerned about leaving him.  Luckily, it seems like the Dad is very affectionate with him, too, so hopefully he (Ugi) won't be too distraught when the boys aren't home with him anymore.  What an angel he was.

P.S. - I was glad to hear Oprah say quite firmly that getting a dog is a big commitment, requiring time and resources, etc.  Great message!

OPRAH said that!  Yay!  Maybe now my mom will lay off me for being committed to my dogs!  If OPRAH said it it must be true!

Seriously though, I missed the show.  I'm gonna have to go looking for a rerun.
