Nutrition question
Posted to: News & Entertainment
I'm working on eating more nutritious. I won't call it a "diet" because I don't want this to be a temporary thing. I've lost 15 lbs since Jan. 3 but have sort of reached a plateau and have been the same weight for 2 weeks. My goal is to lose 10lbs more, hopefully 5 of those...

Mindless Chatter - Monday
Posted to: News & Entertainment
I think I woke up grouchy today. The dogs are getting on my nerves. I hear lots of growling and banging going on outside of my computer room. Tons of snow melted yesterday and we got a lot of rain. Today it's all frozen. The roads look like pure ice. My back yard and drive way are skating rinks....

Leash Corrections? When and for how long?
Posted to: Training & Behavior
A spin off from the "kick the dog" thread. 1. For what behaviors would you use leash corrections as a training method to solve a problem or teach a dog? 2. And for how long would you continue before you found it ineffective? For me I used leash corrections for Jumping on guests and...

Meri has the sickies too:o(
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Meri contracted her first cold. Thankfully no fever, but sneezing and coughing and not being able to sleep very well. She's still in fairly good spirits, but she doesn't have her usual sparkle. And it truly sucks that they pulled all infant cold medicine. So all we have is tylenol(so she can...

Kicking the dog
Posted to: Training & Behavior
A mod suggested starting a new thread to not derail a previous thread. Anyway, have at it. I have seen Cesar kick a dog. I gave the superlative comparison that he did not kick hard enough to make a 20 yard field goal. What I meant by that was that he is not kicking hard enough to cause physical damage...

William is poorly
Posted to: News & Entertainment
Please send your Get Well Soon vibes to my little boy, he's not very well today. He's been off colour all week, probably because of all the new germs at nursery. Today I had to go and collect him because he was being sick everywhere. The doctor has had a look at him, he has an infection and so...

What's the deal with Dog Handlers?
Posted to: News & Entertainment
I love watching all the dog shows on TV this time of year. The dogs are just so beautifully groomed they are breath taking! But the handlers are fashion disasters. Some of the handlers (mostly the women) are so frumpy I think they distract from the dogs they are showing. How about a nice black pant suit...

Hyper Active Autumn
Posted to: News & Entertainment
We adopted an all black female kitten about a year and a half ago. We got her spayed when she was six months old. She's indoor only. Well, since we brought her home she has been extremely hyper active. She flies around our house! Sometimes, during the summer, she would run as fast as she could (she...
