My Baby Is Missing :(
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
Sebastian has been missing since Sunday night. Both cats go outside and usually stick around the house, but Sebastian hasn't come back. I've walked up and down both sides of the road for 1/2 a mile each way hoping not to find my baby stuck to the road. Ben said he saw him come back from across...

My cousin has a 5 year old daughter, Alleen, and since she was 2 months old, I've been her nanny/daycare/babysitter/whatever. Like 15-20 hours a week for the first year, and then 50 hours a week until this past December. Needless to say, we're pretty darn bonded. In December, her parents had...

My brother and SIL got a 4mo. black great dane puppy. He is about 75lbs. already, but we don't know where the weight is. He is all skin and bones! The vet that they got him from said that she likes to keep them lean the 1st year to help the joints with the body's rapid growth and then they can...

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels - for me - what do you think?
Posted to:
Choosing A Dog
So, some of you may know that the prospect of getting a third dog has been in my mind for some time now. I originally thought of an aussie or BC, but have decided that right now a smaller dog would work best for me. I have always liked the cavalier king charles spaniels, and today met one at the park...

Video - More Cord and the Ducks!
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
This demonstrates the first step in starting a goosedog. Cord, of course, already works ducks and is fully trained on herding stuff. But he is scared of "messing stuff up" and goosedog work is all about that (the dog needs to push the geese past the flight zone - literally). The idea here is...

Any advice on low calorie treats/chews?

Nutrition & Exercise
My Aussie mix 1 year old pup needs to lose about 7or 8 pounds. Problem is, she just had double knee surgery for luxating patellas and is not allowed any excercise for at least 8 more weeks! She's always weighed more than I felt she should, even at 12 weeks old I was concerned about her weight and...

So far so good. Kane has gotten accustomed to eating chunks of meat and bone as opposed to his pellets . One strange observation though. For the first five days, he was being fed chicken and he had loose stool for four of those days. Last 2 days I've been giving him red meat (Lamb shoulder/neck)...

Nails?
Posted to:
Training & Behavior
I know I've posted about this before, and I got a great response (a video on training to do nails with a clicker). And I believe that that training would have worked if Rafe wasn't already psychotic about getting his nails done. I can touch his paws and nails all I want and he really doesn't...

I got zero sleep last night. Too much going on in my head. A friend came to help me get my house cleaned up! She's my bestest bud in the world and called me up Friday saying, you sound overwhelmed, I'm coming up to clean up your house. Yes! My house is a pigs sty. She knows me well. Yesterday...

Mindless Chatter Sunday
Posted to:

No one did one for yesterday or has started today, so I will. I have been having fun with the old dryer. I got it in 1994. A few years ago, while cleaning lint out of it, I busted the heating element. So, I replaced that and it worked fine. Then a week ago, it wasn't drying. So, I replaced the...

Ducks or Sheep? Ted Picks . . .
Posted to:
News & Entertainment
I'm working on helping Ted learn to read my cues on which "group" of livestock he needs to get. He's not supposed to randomly pick the group he likes best. One group was just too tempting here, though. I had only sheep set up for this exercise but the ducks came over and said, "Hey...
